(Minghui.org) A Changchun woman’s arm was dislocated by police during arrest, but she was denied treatment by the detention center despite her and her family's requests. Though the detention center did later promise treatment, the woman's family is still concerned as to whether proper medical care has been provided.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Shuyan (王淑艳) was arrested from work at 2 p.m. on October 16. During the arrest, a police officer performed a martial arts move on her, dislocating her left arm in the process.

Police found Ms. Wang’s home key and proceeded to ransack her home without a warrant. They confiscated three copies of the book Zhuan Falun, several Minghui Weekly printouts, many Falun Gong books, 900 currency notes with messages urging people to sever ties with the Chinese Communist Party written on them, four printers, two computers, six cell phones, two CD burners, and one router.

They forced Ms. Wang to stand with these materials and photographed her with them.

Hearing of her mother's arrest, Ms. Wang’s daughter rushed home and asked the police to show their arrest warrant. They refused to do so and called in reinforcements from the Kaixuan Road Police Station, Kuancheng District, to threaten Ms. Wang's daughter.

She decided to call emergency services to report the illegal break-in, but her mobile phone was confiscated by the police. She was then handcuffed and detained at the local police station for six hours.

Ms. Wang was taken to Changchun No. 3 Detention Center at 10 p.m. that evening.

Zhao Yan (赵岩), Deputy Chief of the Kaixuan Road Police Station, claimed that he was in charge of the case when he came to Ms. Wang’s home. Ms. Wang’s family called him later to ask about her case, but Zhao denied his involvement and Ms. Wang’s arm injury.

By October 23, the detention center still hadn’t given any medical attention to Ms. Wang’s injured arm, despite her family's repeated requests. They had even brought in an attorney, but to no avail.

Ms. Wang’s family wished to report the illegal arrest and failure in providing medical treatment. They went to several police offices on October 24, and were told in the end to go to Kuancheng District Police Department’s Discipline Inspection Office.

An officer there redirected the treatment request to the detention center; they could look into the police’s misconduct, but needed the family to submit a written request in order to have the responsible officers investigated. Ms. Wang’s family submitted the materials as instructed, but have yet to receive a response.

Ms. Wang’s family visited the detention center on October 24. An officer Sui talked to them over the phone.

Her family requested treatment for her again. Sui acknowledged that Ms. Wang’s left arm was injured after checking with the prison’s lead guard and doctor, and said they would give her medical attention.

On October 27, Ms. Wang’s family went back to the detention center and spoke with the prison doctor over the phone. The doctor said that they needed to reduce the arm’s inflammation first, so that they could then take an X-ray.

Ms. Wang’s family is very concerned about the repeated delays in administering medical treatment for her injury.
