(Minghui.org) Despite the summer heat, Falun Gong practitioners in Sydney, Australia held another event on November 1, 2014 to raise awareness of the persecution of Falun Gong in China.
Many people learned the facts in Chinatown and on George Street, one of the busiest streets in Sydney, and signed an petition to call for an end to the persecution.
Practitioners telling people about Falun Gong and the persecution
Among them was Mary, a visitor from South Africa. “What are these?” She asked when stopping at posters that illustrated various tortures suffered by practitioners in China.
She was soon in tears, upon finding out about the massive suppression of Falun Gong, including organ harvesting from living practitioners, “What can I do to stop this horrible persecution?”
A practitioner gave Mary a petition form and explained that if more people could step forward, international pressure can help to end this terrible persecution.
Mary signed the petition, took some materials with her, and said that she would let her friends, as well as South African government officials, know about this.
Seeing the posters as they walked by, Grace and her friends stopped to learn more. After signing the petition, Grace asked her friends to come over and sign it too. “About one month ago I read in the news that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) suppressed people in China. Now I know how bad it is.” She said that she would email her friends the petition form and ask them to sign it, as well.
Many Chinese pedestrians also became receptive to the materials that the practitioners distributed, after over 10 years of laying the foundation for their understanding.
“In the beginning, a large percentage of Chinese were poisoned by the CCP's hate propaganda and they were very hostile: knocking over our tables, harassing us, making rude gestures, or swearing at us. Some of them were connected with the China Embassy.” said a practitioner.
A large number of them changed their attitude after learning about Falun Gong and the CCP's crimes. They greeted the practitioners, asked for materials, and said that they would check for more information on the Internet. Some said to the practitioners, “We have already quit the CCP organizations. Thank you very much!”
