65-Year-Old Woman Twice Assaulted by Police for Seeking a Falun Gong Practitioner's Release

(Minghui.org) A 65-year-old woman was assaulted by a police officer on November 18 for requesting the release of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Fang Sifeng, who had been arrested and detained for distributing materials exposing the Communist regime's persecution of Falun Gong.

At the Tongcheng County Domestic Security Division, Officer Li Chenggang (黎成刚) pointed at Ms. Wei Yuexiu (魏月秀) and repeated, “Who let you come in here? I will beat you if you don't get out of this office by the time I count to three.”

As Li counted to the number two, he punched Ms. Wei hard and knocked her against the wall. When she tried to run away, Li grabbed her from behind and shook her violently.

“Police is beating someone!” Ms. Wei shouted a few times. However, no one came out of their offices to stop him. Li then opened the door with one hand, grabbed Ms. Wei's left hand with the other, and pushed Ms. Wei out of the building. As a result, Ms. Wei's wrist was bruised and swollen.

Appeals Denied for Being a Practitioner

Ms. Wei was turned away when she went to the appeal office and supervisory office of the local police department, followed by the Procuratorate.

When she went to appeal at the county government, a guard denied entry to Ms. Wei and revealed that he had been threatened with termination if he let Ms. Wei enter the building again after a previous appeal.

Finally, Ms. Wei went to another appeal office. A staff member there called the supervisory office of the local police department and was told that the reason they turned down Ms. Wei was because she practices Falun Gong.

Previous Assault by Same Officer

Ms. Wei was assaulted by Officer Li Chenggang on October 13, 2014, when she went to Li's office to request the release of the same detained practitioner. Ms. Wei tried to persuade Li not to participate in the persecution of Falun Gong. However, Li slapped her hard on the back, knocking her some distance forward. When Ms. Wei asked him why he hit her, Li shoved her in the back again and pushed her out of the building.
