Elderly Farmer Repeatedly Arrested for Telling People About Falun Gong

(Minghui.org) A 72-year-old farmer from Huai'an was reported for talking to people about Falun Gong and was arrested on April 3, 2014. His case file was handed to the Huaiyin District Procuratorate on August 29, 2014.

The police searched Mr. Ding Zuhua and confiscated his MP3 player and Falun Gong informational materials. They later ransacked Mr. Ding's home and confiscated his personal belongings. He was taken to the Wuji Police Station.

The director of the police station, Liu Zhongming, and other officers took turns interrogating him. They demanded that he tell them the source of the materials and to whom he distributed them.

He has been persecuted for not renouncing Falun Gong since the onset of the persecution in July 1999.

He was held in the local detention center in April 4, 2000 for 15 days for writing a letter to the Chinese central government, telling them the facts about Falun Gong.

Officers Wang Shijie and Chen Xinhua took him to the local detention center on August 17, 2004, where he was held for 15 days. He appealed to the Huai'an City Administrative Office regarding his unlawful arrest. His case was processed, but the Administrative Office withdrew the case under orders from the Huai'An City 610 Office.

He was taken to the Xinghua Brainwashing Center on May 15, 2005, where he was deprived of sleep for several days.

The director of the Wuji Police Station Chen Guoqing and officer Zhang Guomin arrested him on August 12, 2005, and took him to the Party Academic Hotel in Huai'an City. He was interrogated by over a dozen officers for several days.

The officers forced Mr. Ding to sit on the floor with his back straight and his legs together flat on the floor to form a right angle with his body. His arms had to be held out straight. Officer Wang Jianhuai slapped his face with a slipper when he lowered his arms even a little, and used a lighter and incense to burn the underside of his arms. Wang stood on his legs and ground his shoes down the sides of Mr. Ding's legs.

Chang Shulin, director of the Qinghe Domestic Security Division, kicked Mr. Ding and punched him until he lost consciousness.

Mr. Ding was transferred to the local detention center where he had to sew cotton slippers.

He was sentenced to three and a half years a few months later and was taken to the Hongzehu Prison.

He was taken to the Xinghua Brainwashing Center on March 3, 2011, and was held there for a month.
