(Minghui.org) It was 1999 when I developed severe varicose veins. For three years, my legs continued to waste away. In medical jargon, this condition is commonly known as "old rotten legs." There is no cure and amputation is the last resort.

Amputation! I dared not think about it.

If my legs were amputated, no matter how good my future daughter-in-law, she would quickly get tired of waiting on me. The idea of suicide came into my head. I shared my thought with my daughter.

My daughter’s responded, “I’m only 18, and my brother is still in high school. If you die, what are we going to do? What will happen to us? Do you really have the heart to leave us?”

It would indeed be really hard to leave behind my son and daughter, but how could I handle this problem with my legs? I was in deep despair.

My husband also suffered from ailments, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that his spirit improving every day. Then I realized his improvement was due to the fact that he had started practicing Falun Gong.

My brain finally lit up. I decided I would practice Falun Gong, too.

My husband took me to a local practice site to learn the exercises and study Falun Gong.

About three weeks after I started Falun Gong practice, my rotten legs that had bothered me for three years miraculously recovered, and my good spirits returned.

By that time, the police had begun to register the names of people at the practice site and evacuate practitioners who gathered there to do morning exercises.

On July 22, 1999, the TV stations and newspapers set about slandering Falun Dafa and Master with lies and propaganda.

Although I knew that Falun Gong was the great Buddha Law and that Master was innocent, I was timid and afraid. I was also aware that cultivation practice means enduring hardships, but my legs had completely recovered, and so I simply yielded to pressure from the evil forces and stopped practicing.

I owned a small business that required me to be on my feet for long hours every day, and it didn’t take too long for my old leg problems to resurface. I went to the hospital and began taking Western medicine, but to no effect. Then I took Chinese medicine, but that also proved useless.

Later, I heard of a new drug that was being introduced at a big city hospital. It was so costly I could only afford five treatments. What disappointed me the most was that my legs, instead of getting better, actually got worse.

After that, I resorted to folk healing. However, not only did that not work, it actually hurt me so badly that I couldn’t help but cry out in pain.

I truly wished I were dead.

I was in such misery that I finally made a decision that, despite the government’s suppression and ban, even if I were to lose my head, I would practice Falun Gong.

So, the following morning, I started doing the exercises at home. A month after I restarted Falun Gong practice, I completely recovered once again.

Then, something inexplicably amazing happened. There was a lump the size of a large egg growing in my groin. Because I was a cultivator, I ignored it. One night, I was sitting crossed legged in the lotus position doing the fifth exercise when I felt wetness around my groin area. I didn’t pay any attention to it and continued to meditate.

After the fifth exercise ended, I took a look, and what I saw stunned me speechless.

Pus had leaked out of the lump, leaving a hole that had been squeezed shut. In about four days, a scab formed. After the scab dried out, everything was fine.

My sister said people who had things like that usually developed cancer and died. I am infinitely grateful that Master gave me a second chance in life.

Since July 20, 1999, someone has been assigned by the local police station to follow my husband and me around and watch our every move, especially to make sure we do not go to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong.

When I recovered, I told the person assigned to watch me what had happened to me. He sighed and said, “Such a good practice!”

Since I restarted cultivation practice, great changes have taken place in my life. In my line of business, sometimes customers can be rude and what they say may be difficult to bear, but because I am a practitioner, I do not argue with them and always treat them with honesty and respect.

One time, a customer handed me a crisp 100-yuan banknote. Because it was new, I discovered another 100-yuan banknote stuck to it. I immediately returned the extra 100 yuan to the customer, who thanked me for being honest. I told her it was because I practiced Falun Gong and would not take advantage of anyone or any situation.
