(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Jin Yanhua from Jilin City was recently issued a formal arrest warrant, and her case has been transferred to the local Procuratorate. Under China's judicial system, this development means that Ms. Jin now faces possible trial and prison sentence.
Arbitrary arrests, detention, and imprisonment of practitioners are routine under the Chinese Communist Party's violent persecution campaign against Falun Gong. These cases typically involve a show trial held by the Party-controlled court system.
Ms. Jin's family hired a defense attorney, who visited her at the Jilin City Detention Center in mid-September and learned that she was in poor health and was having difficulty walking.
Ms. Jin Yanhua is an instructor at Beihua University Teacher's College. On July 21, 2014, the Changyi police arrested her and detained her at the Shahezi Brainwashing Center in Xiaoguang Village for 16 days. She was later transferred to Jilin City Municipal Jail and held there for 15 days. On August 21, Ms. Jin was taken to the Jilin City Detention Center. Authorities have recently issued her official arrest warrant.
Prior to 1999, Ms. Jin suffered complications during childbirth and became bedridden. Five months later, her husband left her, taking their child with him. At the lowest point of her life and in despair, Ms. Jin learned about Falun Gong and quickly regained her health after taking up the practice. She soon was able to walk on her own, do domestic chores, and even go back to work. Her family, friends and coworkers witnessed her miraculous recovery.
After Ms. Jin's arrest, her younger brother went to the police station to inquire about her case. Officers confiscated his ID card without providing reason or cause.
Ms. Jin was her 80-year-old mother's caregiver before she was detained. Her mother says she cries day and night, worrying about whether her daughter can withstand the ill treatment in detention and whether she will be able to see her daughter again in her remaining days.
