(Minghui.org) Former army lieutenant colonel and telecommunications manager Yang Wanming (杨万明) was sentenced to a six-year prison term in September 2014 for his belief in Falun Gong. He is appealing the sentence.

Mr. Yang, 57, was illegally arrested on April 2, 2014, near the entrance of his apartment building within four months of his release from a five-year incarceration. The police ransacked his home and confiscated a computer, USB drives, and 10,000 yuan. The Hailar District 610 Office, Domestic Security Division, and the residential committee took part in the arrest.

He was sentenced in 2009 for publicizing a Falun Gong related document issued by the Hulunbuir Political and Legal Affairs Committee. He was imprisoned at the Baoanzhao Prison for five years, from 2009 to December 2013.

Mr. Yang, from Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia, is a former lieutenant colonel and telecommunications section chief from the sub-district military headquarters in the Beijing Military Region. He was discharged from the army on account of his belief shortly after China's regime launched the persecution against Falun Gong in 1999, and has been persecuted by local authorities since then.

Mr. Yang started practicing Falun Gong in 1998. He was praised and repeatedly awarded for his excellent work ethic at the Hailai Mobile Telecommunications, the company he joined after his decommissioning.
