Discerning and Warding Off Interference with Vigilance

(Minghui.org) When news about a shooting in the Canadian Parliament broke on Wednesday, I knew that it was meant to interfere with an important event in the Fa-rectification. I just didn't know what it was.

As I read the Chinese Minghui website this morning, I realized that the series of events exposing the state-sanctioned organ harvesting in China were the real target.

A practitioner in Canada shared later that several important events were affected as a result. A press conference and a forum about ending organ harvesting in the parliament were canceled. Two previously scheduled national TV interviews also didn't happen.

I realized that I wasn't truly considering myself a part of the Fa-rectification. I looked at this whole thing as if I were a bystander. I gave the situation an “intelligent” analysis and was complacent in my conclusion: cultivators know what's really happening.

Therefore, I didn't immediately send righteous thoughts upon seeing the breaking news, despite knowing that it was major interference to some important Fa-rectification related events.

I used to be unsure of whether to act on certain things, fearing that I would mess up my cultivation by meddling with ordinary people's business. It took me several years to realize that my concerns stemmed from selfishness.

If I had a clear understanding about the fact that all of society operated for the sake of Fa-rectification and that it serves as our cultivation environment for saving sentient beings, I would not have had those concerns.

Reading the following two paragraphs of the Fa led me to new understandings today.

Master said in “Fa Teaching at the 2007 New York Fa Conference:”

“I began teaching the Fa as early as 1992. Back then Dafa disciples were continually promoting the Fa, and now, while undergoing persecution, Dafa disciples are saving all beings on a global scale. And the world's people that Dafa disciples are saving have undergone changes in recent times. What mankind has been awaiting and what the prophets predicted are coming to be. Lost and confused, and driven by material gain, false appearances, and lies, people don't dare to believe that everything in the last phase has really begun and is in progress. Human society seems to still be functioning as usual, and everything is operating smoothly, steadily, and normally. But in reality, everything is operating for the sake of Fa-rectification.”

Master also told us in “Fa Teaching on World Falun Dafa Day:”

“Then think about it, isn’t this setting itself, isn’t human society, a practice site provided to Dafa disciples? It provides you with a setting and factors that can stir up all sorts of attachments in you, and provides you with all sorts of opportunities to improve. With this affair being so immense, the entire human society has become a monastery [for your cultivation].”

I evaluated current affairs based on the calculation of loss and gain of my individual cultivation. My perspective was not rooted in saving sentient beings and how changes in the society might assist or interfere with people's opportunities for salvation.

I'm learning to view current affairs in society through the lens of the Fa-rectification and gaining confidence to interpret them, and using my righteous thoughts to discern whether I should do something or leave them alone.

I find that the key to making that determination is whether the event affects the salvation of any sentient beings. Taking the stance of a divine being helps. Something that's not justified for an individual cultivator in the old times may be okay for us now, because the Fa-rectification has no precedent. Cultivators saving others during their cultivation also has no precedent.

An old sharing article “Eliminate Demonic Nature” is still fitting today, “It is not enough to recognize evil as evil and righteous as righteous. It is not enough to recognize that we are righteous and to separate ourselves from the evil. We must realize that evil should not exist, and we must do everything in our power to destroy the evil... As this determination rises, my mind becomes solid like a diamond, and I feel that a single move of my mind could break mountains in half.”
