An Honest Tax Auditor Arrested for Practicing Falun Gong

(Minghui.org) Ms. Yan Ruimin worked as an auditor for the taxation department of Luancheng County, Shijiazhuang City. Police officers illegally arrested her last November. Many business owners in Luancheng County and Ms. Yan's coworkers cannot believe that the authorities are persecuting such an honest tax officer.

The police also searched Ms. Yan's house and confiscated many of her personal belongings, without providing a receipt. Ms. Yan provided the only financial support for her household. She is being held at the Second Detention Center in Shijiazhuang City in cell 804.

Even more tragically, many other Falun Gong practitioners were arrested around the same time. The Shijiazhuang City Domestic Security and Public Safety Bureau ordered its officers to arrest as many practitioners in Shijiazhuang and nearby areas as they could.

Leading up to the mass arrest, the Shijiazhuang 610 Office and Domestic Security began following and monitoring several practitioners a few months ago. When the agents found that they had purchased items used in making truth clarification materials, they arrested the practitioners, using the purchases as evidence for the arrests.

The following is Ms. Yan's experience in practicing Falun Dafa:

I used to have so many ailments that I couldn't take care of myself. I had a herniated disc in my spine and could barely walk. I always felt cold, even on a summer day. Each time I was hospitalized, it was approximately three months before my doctors dared to release me. I was often given injections and numerous other medications, yet my health did not improve.

In 1998, a friend told me, “Go practice Falun Gong. My wife's herniated disc was cured by the practice.” I had tried everything I could think of and decided to attempt one last alternative. I listened to Teacher Li Hongzhi's lecture tapes one after another. What he said was completely different from what I had believed about life.

I Went from Being Corrupt to Being Unselfish and Upright

I worked as a tax auditor. I had power, and I greedily took anything that I could get my hands on. I took advantage of business owners and taxpayers in whatever way I wanted. One of them owned a flour plant, so when I was there, I took as many bags of flour as I wanted. If I couldn't use them, I sold them. I never said no to bribes from taxpayers. I even made trouble for the taxpayers so that they would offer me bribes. I went to restaurants to eat and never paid. I even took food home. I let people whom I was auditing pay when I shopped in stores.

I felt terrible about myself after I listened to Teacher Li's tapes. My philosophy of life changed. I stopped taking bribes and never shopped or ate at the expense of taxpayers. I started strictly following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I would not tell taxpayers my home phone number or address because I didn't want them bringing me bribes. I always kept in mind what Teacher Li stated in “Pacify the External by Cultivating the Internal" from Essentials for Further Advancement , “If officials are unselfish, the state will not be corrupt.”

My coworkers let me manage their employee welfare fund because they trusted me. I announced how the money was spent every Monday. They told me, “Don't worry, we won't doubt you even if you didn't announce how it was spent for a year.” My work group achieved the highest marks in productivity and quality each year. Our department chief praised me many times during general meetings and said that if everyone was like me, the whole department would have reached a high standard long ago.
