Additional Persecution News from China – January 10, 2014 (14 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 8 provinces. According to this report, 14 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 10 practitioners were illegally arrested .

1. [Zigong City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Li Deqing Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Li Deqing from Gaoshanjing Road, Ziliujing District, is in her 60s. She was arrested at home by officers from the Yantan District Domestic Security Division on December 27, 2012, and taken to the Zigong City Detention Center. Her family recently learned that she was secretly sentenced to 3 years in prison and transferred to Yangmahe Women's Prison.

2. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Xie Yunhua and Ms. Zhang Hua Detained

Ms. Xie Yunhua from Rongcheng, 72, was arrested by officers from the Rongcheng Police Department on the morning of January 9, 2014, for speaking to people about Falun Gong at the Darunfa Mall. She is being held in the Rongcheng Detention Center.

Ms. Zhang Hua from Rongcheng was arrested by officers from the Gangxi Town Police Station on January 3, 2014, for talking to students in Gangxi about Falun Gong. She is being held in the Rongcheng Detention Center.

3. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Yue Detained

Ms. Zhang Yu, an instructor at Liaoning University of Technology in Jinzhou City, was reported by a student for explaining the facts about Falun Gong to students. She was arrested on January 6, 2014, by the 610 Office agents and is being held in a detention center.

4. [Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zhang Wenying Sent to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Zhang Wenying from Lianjiang, Zhanjiang City, was arrested for distributing the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and informational materials about Falun Gong on January 8, 2014. She was taken to the Zhanjiang Brainwashing Center.

5. [Yantai City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Yu Shuli Detained

Ms. Yu Shuli from Zhaoxian Village, Fushan District, was arrested at home on the morning of January 9, 2014. She is being held in a detention center.

6. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. He Xinfang Detained

Ms. He Xinfang from Diaotian Village, Shima Town, Xingning, was arrested on December 2, 2013, by Diaotian deputy Party secretary He Xiaoming and other agents for posting information about Falun Gong near Xiushui Village. Police ransacked her home and confiscated informational materials about Falun Gong and other belongings. Ms. He is being held in the Xingning Detention Center.

7. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Yingjie Detained

Ms. Wang, in her 50s, was arrested at home by five officers from the Jinzhou City 610 Office on the morning of December 24, 2013. She is being held in the Jinzhou City Detention Center.

8. [Baoquanling, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Yan Qingzhi Arrested

Ms. Yan Qingzhi, a taxi driver, was arrested on the afternoon of January 3, 2014, while she waited for customers at a taxi stand on Shangye Street in Baoquanling. Officers from the No.1 Police Division, including chief Wang Xuandong, made the arrest and seized her private taxi.

Police barged into Ms. Yan's home and ransacked it the same afternoon. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, informational materials about Falun Gong, Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs, a computer, and 275 yuan worth of bills with facts about Falun Gong written on them.

Ms. Yan's husband, who does not practice Falun Gong, was also taken into custody and interrogated for over 8 hours.

9. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wu Lijun Transferred to Prison

Ms. Wu Lijun was transferred from the Harbin No.2 Detention Center to the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison on January 8, 2014.

10. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Sun Xibo Detained

Mr. Sun Xibo was arrested around noon on January 7, 2014, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. He is being held in the Daxi Detention Center.

11. [Beijing] Ms. Zhao Shuqin Detained

Ms. Zhao Shuqin was arrested on January 4, 2014, for raising awareness about the persecution of Falun Gong. She is being held in the Fengtai Detention Center.

12. [Xiangtan City, Hunan Province] Four Practitioners Detained

Ms. Liu Liyan and Ms. Lu Mengjun are being held in the Xiangtan County Detention Center. Ms. Yang Shiyi is being held in the Ningxiang Detention Center; her family is not allowed to see her. Mr. Zhang Xianghai is being held in the Xiangtan City No.5 People's Hospital.

13. [Chishui City, Guizhou Province] Three Practitioners Facing Trial

Ms. Wang Zexuan, Ms. Wang Daigui and Ms. Zhou Bangqin were scheduled to be tried by the Naxi District Court in Luzhou City on January 10, 2014.

14. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Four Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

The Chengguan District Court sentenced Mr. Wang Youjiang, Ms. Chen Jie, Ms. Ge Qingchun and Ms. Lu Yueling without a trial on September 23, 2013. Mr. Wang was sentenced to 6 years in prison, Ms. Ge to 4 years, Ms. Chen to 5 years and Ms. Lu to 3 years.

Mr. Wang, Ms. Chen and Ms. Lu submitted their appeals to the Lanzhou City Intermediate Court in late September 2013. The court did not open a session for any of them, but sustained the original sentences.
