Additional Persecution News from China – December 23, 2013 (23 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 21 cities or counties in 10 provinces. According to this report, 18 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 23 practitioners were illegally arrested .

1. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Aizhen Detained

Ms. Wang Aizhen was arrested on the afternoon of December 18, 2013, while speaking to people about Falun Gong and the persecution. Officers from the Shichang Street Police Station made the arrest and ransacked her home. Ms. Wang is being held in the Dalian Drug Rehabilitation Center, a detention facility used to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.

2. [Maoming, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zhu Fangxia Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Zhu Fangxia was arrested on August 28, 2013, for speaking to people about Falun Gong. Officers from the Zhanqian Police Station made the arrest. The local detention center didn't want to accept her because she failed the physical exam, but the police forced them to admit her.

Maonan District Court officials sentenced Ms. Zhu to 5 years in prison on December 19, 2013.

3. [Huanghua City, Hebei Province] Mr. Li Jinde Arrested

Officers from the Huanghua City Domestic Security Division, led by head Cao Fengsen, monitored Mr. Li Jinde's cell phone and tracked his location. They arrested Mr. Li and ransacked his home in Sunzhengzhuang Village, Luqiao Town. Mr. Li was released the same day.

4. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Liang Guifen Tried

Ms. Liang Guifen, 57, from Poxin Town, Maogang District, was arrested in 2013, along with more than a dozen practitioners who had gathered in her home to read Falun Gong books. She is being held in the Maoming No.1 Detention Center and was scheduled to be tried on December 23, 2013.

5. [Yanjiao, Hebei Province] Ms. Chang Fengzhen Detained

Ms. Chang Fengzhen, 57, was arrested on the afternoon of December 11, 2013, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Officers from the Xicheng Police Station made the arrest. Ms. Chang was sent to the Sanhe City Detention Center for a 2-week term.

6. [Foshan City, Guangdong Province] Two Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Yi Zhenquan from Chancheng District was arrested on December 19, 2013. Officers from the Yong'an Police Station made the arrest. Mr. Yi is detained in Longjiang Town, Shunde District.

Ms. Deng Caijuan was arrested on the afternoon of December 20. Previously, she was sentenced to forced labor twice and incarcerated in the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp for a total of 6 years. She was also held in the Zhanjiang Brainwashing Center for 2 weeks.

7. [Shenzhou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Li Jing Detained in Mental Hospital

Mr. Li Jing worked part-time in Beijing. Shenzhou City police officer Zhang Yuanxiang monitored his cell phone, tracked his location, and took him back to Shenzhou. Although he does not have any mental illness, Mr. Li was sent to a mental hospital on December 6, 2013.

8. [Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province] Two Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Sun Yafan, 73, and Ms. Wang Lijuan, 65, were arrested on December 4, 2013, for speaking to people about Falun Gong. They were taken to the Zhiguo Police Station.

The police pressured them to sign a statement promising that they would not practice Falun Gong. Ms. Wang suffered a heart attack and was taken to a hospital for emergency treatment. She was subsequently released.

9. [Yishui County, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Youxia Missing After Being Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Wang Youxia from Huangshanpu Town was arrested at home on May 9, 2009. She was sentenced to 9 years in prison. Four years later, no one knows where she is.

10. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Mr. He Fugui, Ms. Du Fengqin, and Ms. Luo were arrested and taken to the Shuangshuinian Police Station on the afternoon of December 19, 2013. They were released the same night. The police confiscated informational materials about Falun Gong from Ms. Du's home.

11. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Zhang Shuxiang, 65, Ms. Wang Shiling, 55 and Ms. Liu Xinmei, 50, were arrested on the morning of December 1, 2013, when they spoke to people about Falun Gong. Officers from the Quanshan Police Station took them to a detention center. They were released after failing the physical exam.

12. [Keyouqian Banner, Inner Mongolia] Mr. Zong Tingqi Detained

Mr. Zong Tingqi was arrested on November 15, 2013. He was taken to the Keyouqian Banner Detention Center.

13. [Langfang, Hebei Province] Ms. Chang Fengzhen Detained

Ms. Chang Fengzhen from Yanjiao Town was arrested by officers from the Xicheng District Police Station when she spoke to people about Falun Gong. Ms. Chang was taken to the Sanhe Detention Center on the evening of December 21, 2013. When her family went to demand her release, detention center officials extorted 15 days worth of living expenses from them.

14. [Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province] Eight Practitioners Detained

Eight practitioners were arrested on November 1, 2013. They are being held in two detention centers.

Mr. Chen Tiankui and Mr. Wang Xiaofeng are in the Shijiazhuang No.1 Detention Center. Ms. Yang Huizhou, Ms. Zhang Yingtong, Ms. Yan Ruimin, Ms. Tian Shumei, Mr. Li Yuxin, and Mr. Hou Chunlin (about 47 years old) are in the Shijiazhuang No.2 Detention Center.

15. [Chongqing] Ms. Yang Guozheng Arrested; Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Yang Guozheng, in her 70s, is an employee of the Datong Songzao Coal Mine. She was arrested at noon on December 22, 2013, for speaking to people about Falun Gong. Officers from the Datong Police Station took her into custody. Her current whereabouts and condition are unknown.

Ms. Yang's two daughters, Wang Jiqin and Wang Jifeng, were tortured to death in prisons by the guards. Her husband suffered a nervous breakdown

16. [Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Wang Yan Tortured in Prison

Ms. Wang Yan was sent to Sunzhou No.1 Prison on September 20, 2013. Prison guards often deprived her of sleep, beat her, and forced her to do hard labor. Ms. Wang fainted several times from the abuse.

17. [Qingyang, Gansu Province] Ms. Tuo Junrong Detained

Ms. Tuo Junrong from Xifeng District was arrested on the afternoon of November 21, 2013. Offices from the Xifeng Domestic Security Division made the arrest and ransacked her home. Ms. Tuo is being held in the Ning County Detention Center.

18. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wang Nengying Detained

Ms. Wang Nengying from Xian'an District was arrested on the morning of December 22, 2013, while speaking to people about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Xianning Drug Rehabilitation Center, a detention facility used to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.

19. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Chen Fu Faces Trial

Mr. Chen Fu from the Sujiatun District was arrested at home on the evening of July 19, 2013. Dongling District Court officials intend to try him. Mr. Chen is being held in the Dongling District Detention Center.

20. [Foshan City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Yi Zhenquan Arrested

Mr. Yi Zhenquan was recently arrested by officers from the Yong'an Police Station.

21. [Huaihua City, Hunan Province] Ms. Zuo Huaying Arrested

Ms. Zuo Huaying was arrested on the afternoon of Decembe 22, 2013, for speaking to people about Falun Gong. She is being held at the Guangchang Police Station.

22. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Kong Hongyun Tortured in Police Custody

Ms. Kong Hongyun was arrested on December 15, 2013, while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. Officers from the Tanghu Police Station made the arrest. The police beat and kicked her, holding her in custody at the police station.

Police chief Huang Jianliang also shocked Ms. Kong's face, mouth, and armpits with an electric baton. Her face turned dark purple as a result of the abuse.

Ms. Kong was taken to the Yi County Detention Center that night. She began a hunger strike to protest the persecution on December 15. Her family was allowed to take her home on the evening of December 20.

23. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Four Practitioners Detained

Ms. Xu Guirong, Ms. Sui Lianying, Ms. Yu Suxia, and Ms. Li Suyun were arrested on the morning of December 21, 2013, in Luanping County. They are being held in the Luanping County Detention Center. Police ransacked their homes on December 22 but did not find anything.
