Ms. Jiang Zhihui is a Korean-Chinese living in Xinbin County, Fushun City, Liaoning Province. She experienced tremendous physical benefits from practicing Falun Gong. Because of her belief, she has suffered more than ten years of persecution. Ms. Jiang was recently arrested by the Xinbin Township Police on December 10, 2013. She is currently detained at the Nangou Detention Center in Fushun City.
Having experienced the beauty of Falun Gong through years of practice, Ms. Jiang has been tirelessly speaking to people about Falun Gong ever since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution. She has been detained, taken to forced labor re-education camps, subjected to extortion, and pressured to give up her belief. She was sent to mental hospitals twice. The following account summarizes the persecution that Ms. Jiang has endured.
Extortion
Ms. Jiang Zhihui went to Beijing on September 8, 1999 to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. She was arrested in front of a hotel near Tiananmen Square, and escaped, but was arrested again in Longtan Park. The police handcuffed her and other practitioners whom they'd illegally arrested and took them back to their hometowns on special trains.
Ms. Jiang was taken to a brainwashing center in Fushun City, where she was forced to watch videos slandering Falun Gong, sing songs that praise the Chinese Communist Party, and pressured to write statements giving up her belief. She was not allowed to do the Falun Gong exercises. The police even forced her family, colleagues, friends and relatives to pressure her to give up her belief, but she refused to give in.
The Xinbin County Political and Judiciary Committee planned to take Ms. Jiang to the notorious Masanjia Labor Camp. Her family was so worried about her that they signed the statements of “conversion” for her, saying that she had renounced Falun Gong. The Political and Judiciary Committee extorted 3,000 yuan from her family without providing any receipt.
Abuse in the Home Led to Mental Collapse
Deceived and under great pressure by the CCP, Ms. Jiang's husband continued to monitor her after she returned home. He did not allow her to leave home or contact other Falun Gong practitioners. He locked her in a room when he went to work. When he came home, he got drunk and then beat her, sometimes whipping her with leather belts. She did not sleep for seven days and nights due to the terror of her living situation. The mental and physical abuse caused a mental breakdown and Ms. Jiang was taken to a mental hospital.
Forced Labor Re-education
Ms. Jiang resumed the practice of Falun Gong in the second half of 2007. She completely recovered her mental and physical health.
Ms. Jiang was very grateful to Falun Dafa, so she continued to tell people that Falun Gong is good in order to dispel the lies and slander of the CCP. When she gave out Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs on June 15, 2009, she was reported to the police and taken to the Xinbin Township Police Station. At the police station, Ms. Jiang was handcuffed to a bed for a whole night and then taken to the Nangou Detention Center at 9 a.m. the next day.
The food provided at the detention center was moldy, often consisting of partially raw cornbread and pickled vegetables with insects in them. Food that cost six yuan at the market cost ten yuan in the detention center. Family members were not allowed to see their loved ones unless they spent 100 yuan on food. Ms. Jiang was interrogated by two police officers from Xinbin County, and then sentenced to one year of forced labor in Masanjia Labor Camp.
In the labor camp, there was no hot water supply. Practitioners had to bathe and brush their teeth with ice cold ground water. Soon, many practitioners' teeth became dark and loose. Practitioners were monitored and forced to watch videos slandering Falun Gong and sing songs praising the CCP. Practitioners were constantly pressured to denounce their belief and write reports slandering Falun Gong. When their writing did not meet the requirements of the CCP, they were forced to stand for extended periods, and not allowed to sleep. Sometimes, the guards suddenly searched practitioners and their bedding for Falun Gong writings. Under this intense pressure, Ms. Jiang was “transformed” against her will. She returned home after finishing her term.
More Extortion
Ms. Jiang Zhihui was arrested again on the morning of October 17, 2010 by the Xinbin Township Police. Director Sun Changfa led several officers to ransack her home, confiscating Falun Dafa books. They released Ms. Jiang after extorting 3,000 yuan from her family, once again without issuing any receipt.
