Five Practitioners from Shandong Province Still Incarcerated

(Minghui.org) As the New Year holiday passes, five Shandong practitioners remain incarcerated.

Ms. Li Yuzhen, Mr. Yang Zongquan, Mr. Zhang Hongliang, and Ms. Zhu Yuqiang are imprisoned in Shandong Prison, while Ms. Song Guilan is in Shandong Women's Prison.

Officers from the Beiguan Police Station and Public Safety Bureau arrested Ms. Li, Mr. Yang, and Ms. Song from Jiaozhou City in March 2011, because they were telling others the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong.

The police broke into their homes to carry out illegal searches and confiscated cash, computers, and other personal items. The police tortured the practitioners to try to force them to “confess.”

In Jiaozhou Detention Center, Ms. Li and Mr. Yang, who are both in their 70s, were handcuffed and shackled and forced to work. Mr. Yang, who was healthy from practicing Falun Dafa, began to suffer heart problems. Ms. Li fainted during a physical examination. Her family wanted her released for medical treatment. Jiang Yansheng, head of the detention center, refused and said that he would notify the family if she died.

Mr. Yang's sister and other family members went to the detention center to demand his release around January 20, 2012. Jiang dragged Mr. Yang away after he talked with his family for only a short while. In the dining hall, Jiang used violence in dealing with Mr. Yang's family when they tried to reason with him. Jiang then called the guards and drove the family away.

The Jiaozhou Detention Center tried to get the two older practitioners admitted to Jinan Prison in Shandong Province. The prison initially refused to take them, worrying that they might not survive with their poor health. Jiang bribed the prison authorities, who ultimately relented.

Mr. Zhang and Ms. Zhu are also incarcerated in Jinan Prison.

Ms. Song was sentenced to three years and is now in the Shandong Women's Prison. She was tortured and forced to endure brainwashing.
