(Minghui.org) Ms. Li Dongxu, 45, is an economist at the Northeast Branch of the China Oil and Gas Pipeline Company. She is a Falun Gong practitioner and follows the principles Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to be a good person.

She was illegally arrested again by officers from the Shenyang City Domestic Security Division on November 11, 2013. (For details on her earlier arrest, see: Former Financial Executive Arrested ). She was beaten, stripped naked, and interrogated overnight. Her dependent, elderly mother is heartbroken and has been trying desperately to rescue her.

An attorney was finally able to meet with Ms. Li in early December 2013 and hear about the crimes the Shenyang Domestic Security Division officers have committed.

Ms. Li Dongxu

Stripped, Threatened, and Framed

Ms. Li was arrested in her office and taken to the Minglian Police Station in the Huanggu District by more than five plainclothes officers on the afternoon of November 11, 2013. She was interrogated and deprived of sleep by several officers throughout the night. Whenever she fell asleep, they woke her up to answer more questions.

During her interrogation, one policeman stripped off her clothes and kept her in seclusion. Three of them even threatened to shock her genitals with electric batons, but a deputy chief stopped them. Although they returned her clothes, one officer repeatedly slapped her. Because of the relentless torture, Ms. Li was harmed mentally and became confused. She signed the “investigation transcripts” in a haze.

The Shenyang Domestic Security Division officers then sent the transcripts to the Shenhe District Domestic Security Division and the Procuratorate. Ms. Li denied the transcripts when she was interrogated by the procurators in late November. She is still illegally detained in the Shenyang Detention Center.

Elderly Mother Calls for Her Release

Ms. Li was previously arrested by the Shenyang Domestic Security Division on the afternoon of August 30, 2013, one day before the 12th National Games. Her personal belongings, including her computer, were confiscated. She was taken to the city detention center the next afternoon.

Her dependent elderly mother was miserable and in tears. To request the release of her daughter, she made several attempts to visit the police department, the police, and the Municipal People's Congress. But guards stopped her at the gates. She held a sign requesting a meeting, without success. Her daughter was released on September 30.

Her daughter has now been arrested again. Her mother has gone everywhere to ask for the release of her daughter. Huanggu District police told her on November 27 to pick up the “arrest notice” at the Shenhe District Domestic Security Division. She refused and continued to ask for the release of her daughter. She also hopes others will help rescue her daughter.

Lawyer: Sentencing Falun Gong Believers Is a Miscarriage of Justice

Ms. Li's attorney has submitted to the Shenhe District Procuratorate a “Lawyer's Proposal to Procurators to Overturn the Arrest and Prosecute Those Responsible for Mishandling the Case of Ms. Li Dongxu.”

In the proposal, the lawyer stated: “In many Falun Gong trials, when defendants or their counsels challenged the accusation that practicing Falun Gong and clarifying the truth undermines the implementation of laws or administrative regulations, the prosecutors either had no reply or claimed that the activities violated Article 36 of the Constitution by disrupting the social order. Don't they see a difference between the two? Of course they do. But if they want to sentence you, they can use any excuse.

“There is no truth to the accusation that Falun Gong believers undermine the implementation of the law or administrative regulations. It is absurd that this accusation has been freely used for many years and there is no sign that the authorities intend to correct it.

“Falun Gong believers, who make and hang banners, produce and disseminate DVDs, booklets, and other promotional materials, and even intercept cable TV broadcasts in order to clarify the truth, shall not be arrested, detained, prosecuted, and tried on the basis of Article 36, regardless of quantity and their influence on the public, as long as they did not make them to undermine the implementation of the laws and administrative regulations. Plainly speaking, even if a Falun Gong believer hung banners with messages 'Heaven will destroy the CCP' or 'Quit the CCP' in Tiananmen Square, I do not see what responsibility this person should bear other than administrative. The Department of Urban Management may charge them for interfering with the appearance of the city. Of course, from a comprehensive legal outlook, the CCP can identify itself as a community organization and sue them for civil liabilities. But the CCP has never legally register with the Ministry of Civil Affairs. It is an illegal organization and not qualified to be a plaintiff in civil cases.”

The lawyer stressed that we should recognize that sentencing Falun Gong believers over the years has been a huge miscarriage of justice.

Returning to Good Health

Ms. Li is not married. She graduated from Northeast University of Finance. Her family has a history of genetic illness. She had suffered from hepatitis, tuberculosis, and other illnesses since childhood. Her father was killed in a traffic accident in the 90s. The following year, her brother died of a genetic disease in his 30s after spending a huge amount in medical expenses.

Ms. Li began practicing Falun Gong and shortly after returned to good health. The practice turned her into a cheerful, kind, and amiable person.

Ten-Plus Years of Persecution

After the persecution started in 1999, Ms. Li appealed for the right to practice in Beijing, hoping that she could clarify the truth about Falun Gong to the government. She was arrested and tortured in Longshan Forced Labor Camp. To escape being monitored by the government after her release, she and her mother left their home. She was arrested again and detained in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. During her detention, she was beaten and hang up by handcuffs and otherwise physically and mentally tortured.

Ms. Li was harassed because she didn't renounce Falun Gong. Her 81-year old mother now lives in fear.
