(Minghui.org) After illegally detaining Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Jinfeng for 19 months, the 610 Office of Baoding City, Hebei Province held a sham trial for Ms. Wang's case on the morning of November 7, 2013. Her lawyer was not allowed to defend her. A real court session was secretly held at the same time, at the Baoding City Detention Center. Ms. Wang refused to attend the secret hearing, and it was forced to be canceled. The charges against Ms. Wang were changed three times since she was first arrested, and new evidence was fabricated each time to support the charges.

The Baoding City Nanshi District Court and Procuratorate were willing to be manipulated by the 610 Office, and openly violated the law by depriving Ms. Wang of the right to a defense. For this, her lawyer submitted a complaint to the Baoding City Procuratorate, titled, “Calling again for protecting citizens' basic rights and urgently correcting and punishing the illegal acts.”

The lawyer pointed out, “On November 7, 2013, the Nanshi District Court openly deprived Ms. Wang of her right to a defense. The district court and Procuratorate worked together to hold a secret court session. The session was stopped when Ms. Wang and her attorney protested. The responsible persons, Zhou Aiguo and Jia Rongjun, as well as the directors of the Nanshi District Court and Procuratorate should be held accountable.”

Ms. Wang was arrested by Hanbei Police Station Deputy Director Ma Wenkui and police officer Cao on May 7, 2012, while she was at work. She has been detained for 19 months. At the time of the arrest, the police said to her, “We are arresting you because the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) will soon hold its 18th National Congress, and you might cause trouble. When the Congress is over you will be released.”

However, after the Congress was over, the police continued to detain her. The authorities also went to great lengths to fabricate evidence against her. They came up with three different versions of the charges. The Domestic Security Division of Baoding City fabricated evidence in mid-August 2012 to frame her on a charge of “Using a heretical organization to undermine the implementation of law.” The charge was dismissed however, by the Nanshi District Procuratorate due to insufficient evidence.

The Baoding City Police Department then joined with the Domestic Security Division to refine the previous evidence, and submit it again to the Nanshi District Procuratorate. On November 1 the Procuratorate again rejected the case. The police made a third attempt to charge her, using further refined evidence.

The Baoding City 610 Office and Nanshi District 610 Office were afraid to face an attorney in open court, so they conspired with the Nanshi District Court to not allow the lawyer to be involved. When the lawyer went to Nanshi District Court in January 2013 to submit the documentation for defending Ms. Wang, one of the judges, named Zhou Aiguo, asked the lawyer to prove that he didn't practice Falun Gong and provide extensive proof of his attorney status. Zhou said it was specifically requested by the two 610 Offices.

The attorney's paperwork was not accepted. Facing these unreasonable demands, the lawyer met with Nanshi District Court Director Geng without success. He then went to the Baoding City Intermediate Court. Director Jin of the Court Commission for Discipline Inspection answered that the requests by the Nanshi District Court had no legal basis, and the lawyer only needed to provide the normal documentation. So the lawyer used express mail to send the documentation to Zhou, which Zhou signed and accepted. However, at a later date when the attorney again went to the Nanshi District Court, Zhou said he could not accept the documentation because of requests from the 610 Office.

Zhou notified Ms. Wang's family on November 4, 2013, indicating that the court would have a session at 9:00 a.m. on November 7. The family strongly requested that the court notify the lawyer, but the court didn't. The family and lawyer went to the court at 8:30 a.m. on November 7, and prepared to go in together. But Zhou had notified the security police to stop the lawyer from entering. The lawyer and the family strongly argued with the court personnel.

To everyone's surprise however, Nanshi District Court and Procuratorate personnel had gone to the detention center and were preparing for a court session there. Ms. Wang protested strongly and refused to participate in the trial. The court session was canceled.

Nanshi District Court is clearly aware that Ms. Wang is innocent, but instead still choses to completely follow the orders of the 610 Office by denying the attorney's involvement, and planning a secret trial in the detention center.

This truly reflects how the Chinese communist regime does things in general—It bypasses all laws and continually commits crimes.
