(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners in China are being arrested and maltreated simply for refusing to give up their belief in the principles of truthfulness, compassion and tolerance. People of all ages and from all walks of life have suffered at the hands of the communist regime.
Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xu Mulan, 70, was illegally arrested on the morning of April 12, 2013. She was walking along the Binjiang Road, Canglang Bridge, with a fellow practitioner. She then suddenly noticed that the other practitioner was missing. When she turned around, she saw several police officers pushing this practitioner into a car.
A little later, one of the officers approached Ms. Xu and tried to pull her into the car as well. She resisted. This officer then called more policemen to the scene. They pushed Ms. Xu into the car and took her to the Sipailou Police Station.
Lawless Police
At the police station, officers forcefully body-searched her. They confiscated her DVDs, 200 yuan in cash, house keys and other personal items. The police has not returned these items to date.
In the afternoon of the same day, officers from the Sipailou Police Station went to Ms. Xu's home and ransacked it. They confiscated some blank paper, DVDs and other items. No one was at home at the time, and they did not leave a receipt for the things they had taken.
Later, police took Ms. Xu to Hospital No. 359 in Zhenjiang City for an examination. Afterward, they took her to the Zhenjiang Detention Center, but the guards there refused to accept her.
Consequently, her family was called in and forced to write a guarantee statement to promise that they would not allow Ms. Xu to practice Falun Gong. Only then did they release her.
Facing Illegal Trial
On June 8, 2013, police tricked Ms. Xu into going to the Sipailou Police Station. Upon arrival, she was taken directly to the Jingkou Procuratorate in Zhenjiang City for a trial. The court asked if Ms. Xu wanted a lawyer. She replied, “I am not guilty and I refuse to sign anything.” Later, police let her go home.
On the morning of July 2, 2013, officer She (surname) called Ms. Xu's son and told him that Ms. Xu needs to come to the Sipailou Police Station to settle her case.
When Ms. Xu entered the police station, deputy director Gao Wei sat at the reception desk. She asked him why she was asked to come in. Gao deceived her and said, “We will take you to a place to settle your case.” Instead, four police officers took Ms. Xu to the Zhenjiang Detention Center.
The guards in the detention center refused to accept her because she had high blood pressure. Instead of releasing her, police then took her to the Jingkou Procuratorate for interrogation. Ms. Xu refused to sign any papers.
Ms. Xu was informed by officers from the local police station that she will be put on trial.
Persecuted for Peaceful Belief
Ms. Xu is from Jiangbin New Village in Zhenjiang City. Before she began to practice Falun Gong, she was beset by many illnesses, including heart disease. She regained her health shortly after beginning the practice.
Ms. Xu was detained in a forced labor camp in 2000, after she appealed to the government for the right to practice Falun Gong. Her son lost his job at a bank because his mother practices Falun Gong.
