Additional Persecution News from China – July 22, 2013 (23 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 7 provinces. According to this report, 12 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 22 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Shan County, Shandong Province] Two Practitioners Detained

Ms. Zhu Lihua and a practitioner from Shangqiu City were arrested around July 17, 2013, after they met at a supermarket. The police ransacked the home of the practitioner from Shangqiu. Ms. Zhu is currently being held in the Yucheng County Detention Center in Henan Province, and the other practitioner is in the Shangqiu Detention Center.

2. [Tianjin] Ms. Li Yanxia and Mr. Li Yugang Arrested

Ms. Li Yanxia and Mr. Li Yugang, sister and brother, were arrested by officers from the Jieyuan Police Station. Mr. Li's wife, Bao Jie, who had previously been arrested, is still being held in the Hongqiao District Detention Center.

3. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Mr. Chen Junping's Home Ransacked

Three officers from the Haining Road Police Station ransacked Mr. Chen Junping's home on the afternoon of July 20, 2013. They confiscated several Falun Gong books and the image of Master Li, while Mr. Chen and his wife were both absent.

4. [Tianjin] Mr. Wang Yushi Detained

Mr. Wang Yushi was arrested and is currently being held in the Nankai Police Department Detention Center.

5. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Jiang Dexin Imprisoned

Mr. Jiang Dexin was sentenced to six years in prison. He is currently being held in the Dongling Prison in Shenyang City.

6. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Lu Pinggang Detained

Mr. Lu Pinggang was arrested on July 20, 2013, as he was speaking with people about Falun Gong and the persecution. Officers from the Hongyan Police Station made the arrest. Mr. Lu is currently being held in the Pengzhou City Detention Center.

7. [Jinzhai County, Anhui Province] Ms. Liu Jinping Detained for Ten Months

Ms. Liu Jinping, in her sixties, was arrested at her home in August 2012, and has since been held in the Liu'an City Detention Center.

8. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhou Huimin Sent to Prison

Ms. Zhou Huimin from the Jinzhou District was arrested on July 18, 2013. She was directly taken to the Yaojia Prison.

9. [Beijing] Ms. Zhang Chunying Held in Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Zhang Chunying was arrested on July 8, 2013, and is currently being held in the Nankou Forced Labor Camp in Changping District.

10. [Dalian, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ma Yan and Mr. Pang Long Arrested

Ms. Ma Yan and Mr. Pang Long were arrested on the morning of July 19, 2013.

11. [Chongqing] Ms. Yu Kaizhi Arrested

Ms. Yu Kaizhi was arrested on July 20, 2013.

12. [Chongqing] Ms. Luo Sufang and Her Sister Arrested

Ms. Luo Sufang and her sister were arrested by plainclothes police on July 14, 2013, as they were speaking with people about Falun Gong and the persecution.

13. [Zouping County, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Ms. Lu Xiumei, 45, from Jiaoqiao Town, Ms. Meng Lihong, and Mr. Meng Hao (Ms. Lu is his sister-in-law, and Ms. Meng Lihong is his older sister), were arrested on July 19, 2013 by officers from the Zhouping Domestic Security Division. They are currently in the Zouping Detention Center.

14. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Chen Fu Detained

Mr. Chen Fu from the Sujiatun District was arrested on the evening of July 19, 2013, and his home was ransacked. He is currently in the Dongling Detention Center.

15. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Xiufeng Detained

Ms. Wang Xiufeng, in her sixties, from Liang Township, Fangshan District, was arrested on July 14, 2013, as she was distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. Officers from the Fangshan State Security Bureau and the Liang Township Police Station made the arrest. Her home was ransacked. Her Falun Gong books, informational materials about Falun Gong, and 7,000 yuan in cash were confiscated. Ms. Wang is currently being held in the Fangshan Detention Center.

16. [Gaizhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Shuling Detained

Officers from the Gaizhou City Domestic Security Division, led by head Mu Deqiang, arrested Ms. Li Shuling at her home on July 1, 2013, and took her to the Yingkou Detention Center.

17. [Changtu County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Cui Ningning and Ms. Kang Jingyun Detained

Ms. Cui Ningning and Ms. Kang Jingyun from Changtu Town were arrested on the morning of July 21, 2013, as they were speaking with people about Falun Gong and the persecution. Officers from the Hebei Police Station made the arrest and took her directly to the Tieling City Detention Center that same day.

18. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Guo Xuemei Detained

Ms. Guo Xuemei, 60, was followed and arrested on the evening of July 20, 2013, as she was distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Erqi Police Station, and transferred to the Jinan Detention Center on the afternoon of July 21, to be held for two weeks.

19. [Xinbin County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ying Lijuan Imprisoned

Officers from the Xinbin Town Police Station attempted to arrest Ms. Ying Lijuan, around 50 years old, in October 2010, but failed because Ms. Ying was not at home. Ms. Ying later moved to Shenyang City in order to avoid harassment by local police.

Ms. Ying was arrested by officers from the Xita Police Station in Shenyang on April 9, 2012. She was later sent to the Santaizi Detention Center where she was denied family visits.

It was recently learned that authorities from the Heping District 610 Office in Shenyang City secretly sentenced Ms. Ying to four years in prison. She is currently being held in the Liaoning Women's Prison.

20. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Four Practitioners Detained

Ms. Wu Mei, Mr. Hu Dongsheng, Ms. Sun Zuying, and Ms. Liu Jinzhi from the Jiangxia District were arrested on June 1, 2013, and have been detained ever since.

Ms. Wu's sister-in-law went to the local 610 Office to demand Ms. Wu's release. Yi Chujun, the office head, called the police to detain her, and later transferred her to the Zhifang Police Station where she had a few ribs fractured as a result of being beaten by police. She is currently hospitalized in the Jiangxia District People's Hospital.

21. [Liaoyang, Liaoning Province] More than Ten Practitioners Detained

More than ten practitioners were arrested in September and October 2012. Their computers, printers, and informational materials about Falun Gong were confiscated. Ms. Bi Mingqin and Ms. Wang Jinping were later sentenced to prison. Several other practitioners were incarcerated in a detention center.

Baita District Court officials tried seven practitioners on May 31, 2013.

22. [Chengdu, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yan Min and Her Son Detained

Ms. Yan Min and her non-practitioner son Mr. Sun Yang run a company in Chengdu City. When Mr. Sun and his non-practitioner wife Ying Ying went to collect goods, they were followed by agents from the 610 Office, and their home was later ransacked. Ms. Ying Ying was given a two-and-a-half-year sentence, but will serve it outside prison. Ms. Yan and her son were taken into custody. It is learned that they are being held in Shifang.

23. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Weidong Imprisoned and Forced to Do Hard Labor

Mr. Wang Weidong, 51, was arrested at work on the morning of May 25, 2011. His employer led officers from the Tangshan Domestic Security Division to make the arrest and ransack his home. In the following year, Mr. Wang was transferred from the Tangshan Detention Center, to the Kaiping Forced Labor Camp in Tangshan, to the Handan Forced Labor Camp, and to the Tangshan No. 2 Detention Center.

Lunan Procuratorate in Tangshan City sentenced him to a three-and-a-half-year year term.

Mr. Wang was sent to the Jidong Prison on June 1, 2012, where he was forced to do hard labor every day. He is now pale and emaciated, and unable to stand up straight.
