Additional Persecution News from China – August 3, 2013 (15 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from mainland China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 13 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 14 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province] Five Practitioners Sentenced

Mr. Mo Zhikui, Mr. Li Dapeng, Mr. Xu Feng, Mr. Sun Wenfu, and Mr. Zhang Jinku were detained for approximately three months. The Yilan County Court held a trial against the practitioners on July 18, 2013. Their lawyers pleaded not guilty for them in the court and presented an inarguable defense. However, judges Zhang Anke and Lu Shoufang still sentenced the practitioners to several years in prison, only notifying their lawyers 10 days after the verdict. Mr. Mo was sentenced to 12 years, Mr. Zhang and Mr. Sun five years, and Mr. Xu and Mr. Li three years.

2. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Qu Bin Arrested

Mr. Qu Bin was arrested on the morning of August 2, 2013.

3. [Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Wang Fumei and Ms. Han Suzhi Arrested

Ms. Wang Fumei, in her 40s, is an employee of the Hohhot City Police Department. She was arrested on May 8, 2013, while distributing materials containing information about the persecution of Falun Gong.

Ms. Han Suzhi, 66, is a retiree. She was arrested around April 20, 2013. Her whereabouts are unknown. This is the fourth time that Ms. Han has been arrested.

4. [Nongan County, Jilin Province] Ms. Qu Fengxia Detained

Ms. Qu Fengxia was arrested by officers from the Gaojiadian Town Police Station on July 30, 2013. She was detained in the Nongan County Detention Center for five days.

5. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Mr. Kong Deping Detained

Mr. Kong Deping was arrested and sent to the Langfang City Brainwashing Center on July 31, 2013.

6. [Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Niu Huijie Detained

Ms. Niu Huijie was arrested and sent to a brainwashing center on July 30, 2013.

7. [Shenmu County, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Zhao Wenbiao Arrested

Mr. Zhao Wenbiao was arrested on the evening of July 23, 2013.

8. [Beijing] Ms. Xu Guizhen Detained

Ms. Xu Guizhen was arrested by officers from the Laoshan Police Station on the morning of August 2, 2013 when she was speaking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She is being held in the police station.

9. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Luo Yanting and Mr. Wang Mingsheng Detained

Mr. Luo Yanting and Mr. Wang Mingsheng were arrested on July 23 and 24, 2013 respectively. They are being held in the Xiangtai Electricity Hotel.

10. [Kangping County, Liaoning Province] Mr. Feng Qinyuan Detained

Mr. Feng Qinyuan was arrested at home by police officers who located him after having caught him speaking to people on the Internet about the persecution of Falun Gong on July 18, 2013. He is being held in the Kangping Detention Center.

11. [Gaozhou City, Guangdong Province] Five Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Wu Youqing, Mrs. Zhou Daqiong, Ms. Hu Xiuhui, Ms. Li Qiao, and Ms. Tian Juying were arrested on August 1, 2013, while distributing materials containing information about the persecution of Falun Gong. Police officers including Zhan Jie from the Domestic Security Division and agents from the 610 Office ransacked Mrs. Zhou’s home after her husband returned. They confiscated materials containing information about the persecution, a computer, two printers, an MP3 player, a multi-function eBook, and two multi-function distributors, Falun Gong books, and DVDs. Officers from the Dachao Town Police Station ransacked Ms. Hu’s home that evening and confiscated several items.

Two of the practitioners were released that evening. The whereabouts of Mr. Wu, Ms. Hu, Ms. Li, and their driver are unknown.

12. [Chongqing] Ms. Li Zhengying Arrested

Ms. Li Zhengying was arrested by officers from the Guanjian Police Station on the morning of April 1, 2013, while speaking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Director Guo of the station deceived her family by telling them that Ms. Li would be released only if they pay 5,000 yuan in cash. Her son-in-law had no choice but to pay the money. The police then lied to them again, saying that they would escort Ms. Li and her family home. However the officers ransacked Ms. Li’s home and confiscated Falun Gong books as soon as they arrived there.

13. [Shanghai] Ms. Yuan Xiaolan and Ms. Zhang Xiaoying Facing Trial

Ms. Yuan Xiaolan and Ms. Zhang Xiaoying were put on a trial on August 13, 2013.

14. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhang Sumei’s Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Zhang Sumei, in her 70s, was arrested by officers from the Qiaokou District 610 Office on July 31, 2013. The officers ransacked her home. Ms. Zhang’s whereabouts are unknown.

15. [Fenxi County, Shanxi Province] Mr. Cao Yuejin Detained

Mr. Cao Yuejin, in his 60s, was arrested at his son’s home by officers from the local police station on the morning of June 13, 2013. Mr. Cao was arrested again in mid-July. He has been being held in the Yaodu District Detention Center for one and a half months.
