(Minghui.org) Mr. Hu Dongsheng lives in the Jiangxia District of Wuhan City, Hubei Province. To the despair of his family, he was a serious gambler before he began to practice Falun Gong in 1999. He then became well-respected. During the dozen years the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been persecuting Falun Gong, he has been persecuted again and again. Now he is in prison again.
On June 1, 2013, Mr. Hu and three other practitioners, Wu Mei, Sun Zuying, and Liu Jinzhi, were distributing information about Falun Gong. They were arrested by officers from Shanpo Police Station in Jiangxia District and detained in the Jiangxia Detention Center.
After Mr. Hu was taken into custody, his family kept going to the Political and Legal Affairs Committee, the local 610 Office, the domestic security division office, and Shanpo Police Station to find out why he had been arrested. The family asked the authorities to release him since he did nothing wrong in believing in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. However, the police still arrested Mr. Hu on criminal charges. The family was very angry about it because they had witnessed the great changes in Mr. Hu after he began practicing Falun Gong
Mr. Hu joined the army after graduating from high school. After he was mustered out of the service, he made a living farming and driving a tractor. He became addicted to gambling and often gambled until very late into the night. Sometimes he did not even go home. His home life was unhappy, and his two children were negatively affected.
This lasted until early 1999 when Mr. Hu found Falun Gong. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance completely changed his world view. He cultivated his body and mind to become a good person everyone had high regard for.
In July 1999, the former head of the CCP, Jiang Zemin, started the cruel persecution of Falun Gong in China. Mr. Hu was repeatedly persecuted for not giving up Falun Gong and telling the public the truth about the persecution. On January 31, he was detained by Wang Guoliang in the Jiaxia Police Station because he asked for the return of Falun Gong materials the police had taken.
In the late February 2000, Hu was held in the district CCP Party School by Xia Guangping. After that he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa and was arrested again. He was detained for 15 days, and later was sent to the Wulijie Brainwashing Center.
In January 2001, he was again detained in Wulijie Brainwashing Center for more than a month.
In October 2001, he was arrested when he distributed Dafa educational materials. He was detained in Zhifang Detention Center by Hu Xinhua from Jiangxia Police Station. Later he was sent to Hewan Forced Labor Camp in Wuhan City and detained there for a year and a half. His family hired a lawyer to defend him. However, the detention center at first kept him from seeing Mr. Hu Dongsheng. The lawyer protested, and he was able to see Mr. Hu the morning of July 24.
That afternoon, the lawyer asked to talk with the Jiangxia District Attorney, who refused to see the lawyer and told him to contact the domestic security division of the Jiangxia District. The police did not listen to the lawyer or the family and were very rude. Later they just ignored the family and left.
