Additional Persecution News from China – August 7, 2013 (9 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 5 provinces. According to this report, 9 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 2 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Qiu Baoshan Detained

Mr. Qiu Baoshan was arrested on August 3, 2013, when he spoke with people about Falun Gong and distributed informational DVDs on Xizhong Square. He was sent to the Jinhe Detention Center the next day.

2. [Chongqing] Mr. Liu Guangzheng Arrested

Liu Zenghuai, an officer from the Jijiang Neighborhood Committee in the Jiangjin District, Zhou Kaijun from the local police department and others broke into Mr. Liu Guangzheng's home on the morning of August 5, 2013. They ransacked the home before taking Mr. Liu into custody.

3. [Zhengding County, Hebei Province] Mr. Jia Zhijiang Faces Trial

Mr. Jia Zhijiang is currently held in the Zhengding County Detention Center. He is scheduled to be tried on August 8, 2013.

4. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Two Practitioners Face Trial

Ms. Wang Manhong and Mr. Song Guobin face trial on August 8, 2013.

5. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Shang Shiying Expelled from Workplace

Ms. Shang Shiying, 51, was a nurse at the Workers' Hospital in Tangshan City. She was arrested on January 14, 2010, because she spoke with people about Falun Gong. Lubei District Court sentenced her to three years in prison. After Ms. Shang was released, she went to work on April 15, 2013, but was told that she had been fired.

6. [Qishan County, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Liu Hongshu Sent to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Liu Hongshu from Zhujiazhuang Township was arrested when he spoke with people about Falun Gong in Xinjiang Autonomous Region, where he did odd jobs. Local 610 Office agents made the arrest and sent Mr. Liu to a forced labor camp. He was recently released and returned to his hometown.

After Mr. Liu went to Baoji City Intermediate Court and Procuratorate and complained about how the 610 Office in Xinjiang had persecuted him, Baoji City 610 Office agents arrested him and took him to the Hanzhong Brainwashing Center.

7. [Songzi City, Hubei Province] Ms. Liu Yu'e on Hunger Strike in Detention

Ms. Liu Yu'e was arrested on the morning of August 1, 2013, when she distributed informational materials about Falun Gong in Zhijiang City. She is currently held in the Zhijiang Detention Center. Ms. Liu has been on a hunger strike for four days to protest the illegal detention.

8. [Shahe, Hebei Province] Ms. Hao Xiangtang Tortured in Police Custody

Ms. Hao Xiangtang was arrested and taken to the Shahe City Criminal Police Unit on July 14, 2013. He was interrogated through torture for 22 days.

9. [Xiamen City, Fujian Province] Ms. Zhu Fengling Faces Trial

Officers from the Ximing District Domestic Security Division, together with officer Chen Guishun from the Lianqian Police Station, deceived Ms. Zhu Fengling into opening her door on the morning of May 22, 2013. They ransacked her home before taking her into custody. They confiscated two laptop computers, which belonged to her husband, two printers, Falun Gong books and other personal belongings.

Ms. Zhu is currently held in the Xiamen No.1 Detention Center and is facing trial.
