(Minghui.org) Ms. Zheng Yuling is a Falun Gong practitioner from Suining County, Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province. She has been held at the Xuzhou Detention Center since her arrest on June 16, 2013.
Ms. Zheng has been on a hunger strike for nearly a month to protest the persecution. Her health has dramatically deteriorated as a result. It is not known whether she has been sent to a hospital.
On the afternoon of June 16, Ms. Zheng and Ms. Lu Wenmei, a fellow practitioner from Xuzhou City, went to the countryside of Liuxin Town in Tongshan County to distribute informational materials about Falun Gong. They were reported to the police and arrested.
Because Ms. Zheng refused to give her name and address, she was beaten by officers from the Tongshan Police Department. The police later discovered Ms. Zheng's identity by checking their database.
On June 21, Ms. Zheng and Ms. Lu were taken to the Xuzhou Detention Center. Ms. Zheng was placed in Cell No. 9. She began a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention and refused to follow the orders of the police, such as reporting to them, counting off, or wearing a prisoner uniform.
Several days after she started the hunger strike, detention center authorities assigned four criminal inmates to drag her to be force-fed every day.
As a result of seasonal heat and no climate control, the cells filled with more than 20 detainees got especially hot. After being on a hunger strike for nearly a month and in such conditions, Ms. Zheng became extremely weak.

Other Practitioners Arrested
Many other practitioners were also recently arrested in Xuzhou City. On June 23, Mr. Mr. Feng Kai was arrested at home, taken to the Xuzhou Mental Hospital, and tortured.
On the morning of May 4, 2013, Feng County Police broke into the home of a practitioner in Changdian Town. They arrested six female practitioners: Ms. Jiang Qun and Ms. Sun Meiying from Feng County, Ms. Guo Yanhua and Ms. Liu Qiaozhen from Jin Township in Shandong Province, Ms. Si Xiuli from Pei County, and Ms. Li Xinrong from Lianyungang City.
Police also ransacked their homes. The six practitioners are currently detained in the Xuzhou Detention Center.
