(Minghui.org) I am an elderly Falun Gong practitioner. I was the president and Party secretary of a large corporation, and had a lot of power due to my position before I practiced Falun Gong. My position brought me a lot of fame and “honor.” If you search Baidu online, my name appears in the “Who's Who” of Chinese celebrities.
After I retired from the company I fell from fame, and my past was like a dream. It was disheartening to live like an ordinary person after being a prominent figure. I could not cope with the reality, just like Master said in "Grasped Or Missed In One Thought" in Hong Yin III:
“A lifetime of seeking and pursuit
a lifetime of worries and grievances.”
I ended up with many ailments and became very lonely as I got older. Some people gave me kind advice, saying, “Don't stay home alone. Go take a walk or do some exercises. Keep in touch with people.” I took their advice and went out for walks. I saw a lot of people practicing different kinds of Qi Gong and Tai Chi, but I had no interest in joining them.
Finding Falun Gong
One day, I met an assistant at a Falun Gong practice site. He was very patient and enthusiastic in telling me about the practice and said that Falun Gong was a highly virtuous practice with remarkable healing effects. I was very moved by his patience and enthusiasm. All of a sudden I remembered a fortuneteller once telling me, “At such and such a place and time, you will take up a profound Buddhist practice.” The place and time the fortuneteller predicted happened to coincide with the Falun Gong practice site and the time I spoke with the assistant. I thought to myself that this was not a coincidence, that it was arranged. Why did I choose Falun Gong over many other schools of practice in the park? Just like Master said in "Which Side To Choose" in Hong Yin II:
“Reincarnation and rebirth in the human world
Waiting in pain for the Divine to save us back to the heavens
All know the Divine shall come at the Kalpa's end
Don't turn away when you see the truth
In China, the Central Plains, all know that the Red Party is evil
One shouldn't have helped the wicked and added more ordeals
The Divine ones come to save, accompanied by interference
It's to see which side the world's people will choose”
Had I turned away from Falun Dafa and chosen another school of practice, I would never have obtained the Fa. I believed I was highly predestined to practice. In fact, Master's fashen was already taking care of me when I was wandering about the park. It was Master who took me to the practice site. I started the practice on June 3, 1999. In less than half a year, all my health problems such as bronchitis, vomiting blood, dizziness, hyperstenosis, and lumbar and leg pain disappeared. I fully recovered from poor health. I know I cannot repay even a little bit in my lifetime what Master has given me. I can only work harder on the three things that Master requires and strive to walk ever more rigorously and diligently in my path to divinity.
I would like to share how I have tried to save people poisoned by the Chinese communist regime's lies. I hope that practitioners will point out anything inappropriate.
Although I have been clarifying the truth to save sentient beings for over 10 years, I still feel that I am falling short of Master's and the Fa's requirements. There are still a lot of people poisoned against Falun Gong that have not been saved. As Master said in "The Ultimate Objective Of Clarifying The Truth:"
“The CCP’s wicked propaganda has instilled the world’s people with lies that slander and defame Falun Gong, and this is meant to incite hatred against the Buddha Fa and Dafa disciples, who are on the path to divinity.”
Faced with this circumstance, saving them becomes our major concern and mission.
Through Fa study and sharing with practitioners, I realize that, in order to save them, the main point of our truth-clarification must stand out and be clear. We must first clarify the fact that Master Li teaches the law of the universe, which is based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Master Li comes to offer salvation to all people and lead them to become good people. The ideology of the evil Chinese communist regime is grounded on the doctrines of “Lies-Evil-Fighting,” which aims to persecute good people brutally. I think these are our main points that must be clearly clarified first. When we focus on our main points, we can easily awaken people's conscience and save them.
Letting Young People Know What's Right and Wrong
I often go out to clarify the facts to young college graduates who stand on the street to distribute advertisements and encourage them to quit the evil Party. Many of these young people don't know the truth and are deeply poisoned by the Party's lies that have been instilled into them. They mistakenly think that corruption is a social lubricant and that the disparity between rich and poor, unemployment, and social unrest are the inevitable law of social advancement. Pinpointing their misconceptions and using historical facts, I said, “Why do you think there were the Chen Sheng and Wu Guang Uprising in the Qin Dynasty, the Li Zicheng Uprising in the Ming Dynasty, the Taiping Rebellion Uprising in the Qing Dynasty, and the June 4th Student Movement Incident in Tienanmen Square? All these were caused by the corruption of the ruling class, who imposed heavy taxes and deprived others of their rights and freedom.” After I told them the truth about the June 4th Student Movement and how the communist regime has persecuted good people in history, many college graduates seemed to awaken from their dream and understand that Falun Gong practitioners are good people. Many of them quit the Party using their real names.
One student from Xian Communications University said, “Corruption is rife in today's society. One day, I went to the employment office to find a job. A civil official called me over and said, 'If you pay me $150,000, I will get you a job.'” A female college graduate told me, “After listening to you, I understand it all at once. The communist party is so corrupt. I don't see any hope for it. I will quit now.” Another student said, “Deng Xiaoping said to let a few people get rich first, and then the rest follow. A few decades have passed, the poor become poorer and the rich richer. This polarization is getting worse.”
One day, I went to the department store next to my house to clarify the truth to two saleswomen, both college students. I told them what Falun Gong is and why it has remarkable healing effects. Before I could continue one of them said, “Uncle, stop talking. If Falun Gong is really that good, then why did they kill themselves on Tienanmen Square? How horrible!”
I told them that the Tienanmen Square Self-Immolation Incident was a set-up used to defame Falun Gong. I said, “As you know, (the victim) Wang Jindong's body was entirely burned, yet the Sprite bottle filled with gasoline between his legs remained intact. Why do you think the police officers holding the blanket didn't extinguish the fire immediately until after Wang shouted 'Falun Dafa is the universal Fa!?' The poor little girl underwent a surgery and had her trachea removed, yet she could still sing. Isn't it acting or what?” After listening to me, they came to a complete understanding, and said, “Now, I understand why. We are members of the Youth League of the party. Please help us quit it.”
In March of this year, I went to the market to clarify the truth to a young man who collected old furniture. As soon as I asked if he knew what Falun Gong was and whether he had quit the Party, he got very upset and said, “Falun Gong is a cult. It is harmful. Stop telling me about it. Im not interested. Get out!” I was very angry and almost wanted to fight with him. Then I recalled what Master said in Zhuan Falun: “one should not fight back when being punched or insulted”. I was able to calm myself down and left. After I walked about 100 meters away, I felt that something went wrong. Master said in Falun Gong,
“A practitioner should not only show forbearance towards the people with whom he has conflicts and those who embarrass him directly, but should also adopt a generous attitude and even thank them.”
So I decided to go back. With a smile, I said, “Young man, please listen to me. It's for your own good.” I told him about the beauty and goodness of Falun Dafa and the principle of retribution. I patiently told him the truth in an attempt to awaken his knowing side. In the end, he accepted what I told him and apologized for what he had said before. When I tried to persuade him to quit the Party, he said he didn't join it, but promised to learn more about Falun Gong and recite “Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”
Reaching a Cadre with the Help of Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party
The biggest obstacle that older cadres normally have is that they are so scared of the communist party's continued bloody political movements. They are survivors of various communist movements, so they don't easily believe anything. Even if they know it is a truth, they don't immediately support or deny it. In late February 2012, I tried to clarify the truth to an old cadre. I talked about the Party's corruption, unfair distribution of wealth and power and lack of democracy and freedom--the shortcomings of one-party dictatorship. He agreed.
When I tried to convince him to quit the Party, he hesitated and said, “I have been a Party member for decades. I can't think of any good reason to quit it.” I started telling him about the key points found in the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. I went from campaigns like the Anti-threes, Anti-fives, Anti-rightists, to the Great Leap Forward, and the Cultural Revolution, during which fathers and sons, husbands and wives were turned on each other, causing factories to shut down, farmlands to turn barren, and people were poverty-stricken and became destitute. I also talked about the universal principle of retribution of good and evil and how each and every one of us must make a choice and be responsible for themselves. My words finally got to him and he said, “I have experienced all that you just told me. I have been victimized and scared by the Party's wickedness. Now I am getting old. I am not afraid of them anymore. Help me quit.”
Another day, I was clarifying the truth to an old cadre (a secondary school principal and Party secretary) on a roadside. We also talked about household trivia and other topics for half a hour. Our conversation was very engaging. I asked him if he had read Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. He said he had heard of it but had not read it. I told him the general content of the book and that Falun Dafa is a righteous practice based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance that teaches people to become good citizens and has spread to and been welcomed by over 100 countries around the world. Citing both positive and negative examples, I continued talking about the evil party's “Lies-Evil-Fighting” and how it has created restlessness for Chinese people over its decades of rule. After I finished, he said, “What you just said makes so much sense. I will listen to you--please help me quit.”
In early February, I met a 70-year-old lady. From our conversations I learned she was a cadre of a unit in the 1960s. At that time, she was taken back to her rural village from the city. From her speech, I knew she was heavily poisoned by the “Party culture.” She said, “When the movement started, I believed it was needed for the revolution. Since I was a Party member, I should resolutely respond to the Party's call...” I was asked her “Did you get your job back after you returned to the city? Did the Party pay you any salary?” She said, “No! Not even a bit. I now depend on my children to get by.” I said, “You lost your job and there's no pension. What kind of 'Revolution' was that?”
After I told her the facts from the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, and she understood everything at once. Crying sadly, she said, “I have been cheated by the Party my entire life.” She continued, “Falun Gong is so good. As you said, if everyone embraces 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance' and tells the truth, how wonderful would that be! But is this attainable?” I said, “If everyone does it, it is certainly attainable.” She asked me to write down 'Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good' on a piece of paper and said she would go home and recite it every day. I asked if she was willing to quit the Party, and she said, “Of course. Hurry up! Help me quit. I don't want to be fooled by them anymore!”
Using Facts to Clarify the Truth to Awaken Police Officers
Master said, “Don't lose those who should be saved, especially those with predestined connections.” ("Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Atlanta Fa Conference")
I follow Master's requirement and treat police officers as sentient beings without any of my preconceived notions and clarify the truth using examples to appeal their conscience. In the first half of 2009, I tried to clarify the truth about the “April 25th Incident” to a police officer from Hebei Province in a shopping mall. At first, he said, “Falun Gong is involved in politics. They tried to besiege Zhongnanhai and go against the government.” He said a lot of things to attack Falun Gong. After he finished talking, I didn't get angry or argue with him. Instead, drawing from the information published on the Minghui website about the April 25th Incident, I went into great detail, without boasting or bragging, about what really happened. I told him that, during the whole incident, Falun Gong practitioners didn't carry banners, shout slogans, or do anything drastic. They were just telling the truth and peacefully appealing to the government. After the appeal, they didn't even leave any debris on the ground. They even picked up all the cigarette butts left by police officers on duty. A policeman at the scene told his colleague, “What is virtue? That is virtue!” After listening to me, the police officer changed his attitude and raised his thumb, “It makes a lot of sense to me. I believe what you just said. I admire Falun Gong.” Before he departed, he asked me help him quit the Party.
In the summer of 2011, I went out to clarify the truth and saw man walking past me pounding his waist with his fist. I asked him, “Are you in pain?” He said, “It's an occupational syndrome. I eat irregularly due to work and have developed pain all over my body.” I told him, “If you recite 'Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good' every day sincerely, you will be healed.” His face started to turn blue: “How dare are you! I am a police officer, captain of a police station. Aren't you afraid that I will arrest you and put you in a forced labor camp or prison?” I was not the least bit afraid. I smiled and said, “No, a police officer's job is to arrest bad people, not good people who offer them salvation.” I immediately sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the rotten demons behind him. I started telling him about police officers who had received retribution for arresting Falun Gong practitioners, such as Ren Changxia, captain of Dengfeng City Police Department of Henan, who died in a car accident, and the sudden death of Song Pingshun, head of the Tianjin 610 Office. I also told him about defections such as a group of police officers quitting the Party after knowing the facts about Falun Gong. Through citing a lot of positive and negative examples, I was finally able to get through to him.
He smiled and said, “I was just trying to scare you. Please don't take it seriously. You said that by reciting 'Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,' the pain will go away. But who can prove it?” I said, “If you have time, go to the Minghui website. There are a lot of terminally-ill patients who are healed by reciting 'Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good'” He said, “Let's do this. I will try to recite it for half a month. If it works, then I will believe you and will quit the Party.” I said, “The Buddha Fa is not supposed to be used as an experiment. It mainly depends on how sincere your heart is.” Through repeated truth-clarification and examples, he completely changed his attitude. In the end, he happily said, “I believe you. Please help me quit. My name is...”
I was able to persuade prison guards, judicial officials, and police officers to quit the Party. Practice and experience prove that, as long as our goal is clear and clarify the truth about the beauty and goodness of Falun Dafa and the wicked nature of the evil Party and help them to discern good from evil, then we can awaken their conscience and save them.
