(Minghui.org) Mr. Li Xiangdong, a Falun Gong practitioner who lives in Chongqing, was illegally arrested in August 2012. Almost a year later, in June 2013, he was released, but agents from the local 610 Office took him directly to a brainwashing center.

Li Xiangdong had been held in the Huayan Detention Center, in the Jiulongpo District of Chongqing, ever since he was arrested on August 19, 2012.

Li Xiangdong's mother received a call from Huayan Detention Center on June 20, 2013, asking if Li Xiangdong had returned home. After the call, she hurried to the Huayan Detention Center, where she was told that Li Xiangdong had been taken from Huayan Detention Center on June 9, 2013.

On June 26, 2013, the lawyer hired by Li Xiangdong went with Li Xiangdong's mother to the detention center in Chongqing. Records were found on the computer at the detention center which indicated that Li Xiangdong was released on bail pending trial on June 9, 2013.

The lawyer and Li Xiangdong's mother then went to the Jiulongpo District Procuratorate. They found the prosecutor, Zhou Guanzhang, who was in charge of Li's case. The lawyer talked to the prosecutor for almost two hours. The lawyer requested copies of the documents related to the verdict of the upcoming trial and bail. The prosector said, “The documents have already been given to Li Xiangdong. You need go to the Domestic Security Division in the police station."

When the lawyer and Li's mother found the Domestic Security Division, the captain there shouted, “Li Xiangdong's case was closed, so don't come here. You should go to the Procuratorate, the Political and Legal Affairs Committee, and the 610 Office. If you come to us again, I won't be so easy on you." He also pushed Li's mother many times, almost pushing her to the ground.

The lawyer and Li's mother returned to the Procuratorate. This time prosecutor Zhou Guangzhang hid from them. So they had to go back to the Appeals Department of the Chongqing Procuratorate. A prosecutor with a badge number of 001 met with them. After the lawyer and Li's mother told their story, the prosecutor said, “I will call them and ask them to send you the documents regarding the release on bail. You can go to the Jiulongpo District Procuratorate to find them.”

They still did not get the documents, and did not know where Li was. Through inquiries via various channels, they finally learned that Li Xiangdong and Wang Yun had been taken to the brainwashing center by personnel from the Jilongpo District 610 Office.

Li's mother went to the Political and Legal Affairs Committee of Jiulongpo District to ask for Li Xiangdong to be released. The committee officers said they did not know about the case. Then she went to 610 Office of Jiulongpo District where the 610 Officer agents admitted that Li Xiangdong and Wang Yun were at the brainwashing center. They also said it was the decision of city hall to send all Falun Gong practitioners to the brainwashing center. If they had not been “transformed,” they would be put into prison again.

Later that night, the 610 Office agent ordered staff in the committees of Huangjueping Street and Tanzikou to harass and threaten Li Xiangdong's mother. They shouted, “Tell that lawyer to never come back to Chongqing, as no government department will see him.”

On June 28, Li's mother again went to the appeals department of the Chongqing Procuratorate. The same prosecutor who had met her before was there. However, his attitude had changed, and he said that the related documents had already been sent to Li Xingdong.

It was a criminal offense for the 610 Office to forcibly send Li Xiangdong and Wang Yun to the brainwashing center. The Jilongpop District Police, Procuratorate, and staff in the committees of Huangjueping Street and Tanzikou, who had assisted the 610 Office, were all accessories to this crime.
