Mr. Guo is in his 40s. Prior to the arrest, he worked at a factory in Fuxin, where he was regarded as a righteous, kind, and highly skilled technician. His wife works at the same factory, and their 16-year-old daughter is in high school.

Arrested and Imprisoned for Spiritual Belief
Mr. Guo was distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in Xiangyu, Yipin District, on the evening of August 30, 2012, when security personnel reported him to police. Subsequently, officers from the Dongyuan Police Station arrested him and sent him to the Xindi Detention Center in Fuxin.
The Xihe District Court tried Mr. Guo on the afternoon of December 21, 2012. The trial was closed to the public; only his wife was allowed to observe. Mr. Guo defended himself and pleaded not guilty. The court didn't announce the verdict that day; however, he was sentenced to four years in prison on January 22, 2013.
Mr. Guo was then taken to the Jinzhou Nanshan Prison. His family did not receive prior notification.
