(Minghui.org) Officers from the Weifang government, the 610 Office, and the police department illegally arrested several Falun Gong practitioners on April 15, 2013, just four days before the International Kite Festival. Those arrested or harassed included Mr. Tan Foli, Mr. Wang Shenghua, Mr. Wang Xinmin, Ms. Dai Zongzhen, and Ms. Yuan Qingxia.
Directed by domestic security agent Gu Zhiyong, a man and woman in a black police sedan (license plate “Lu” G00097) drove to Ms. Dai Zongzhen's home at about 5:00 a.m. on April 15 to arrest her. They banged on the anti-theft door and threatened her, ordering her to open the door. Ms. Dai was at home but did not cooperate. Onlookers asked what they were doing. The police did not dare to answer so they left empty handed. They parked their vehicles nearby and waited.
Mr. Wang Shenghua and Mr. Tan Foli were arrested at Mr. Tan's home. The police ransacked Mr. Tan's home and took all the Falun Dafa books and other items. The two practitioners were taken to Weifang Police Department. Mr. Wang was transferred to Weifang Detention Center. Mr. Tan, who is 80 years old, was released on the evening of April 16.
Several Weifang police officers broke into Mr. Wang Xinmin's home in Maozizhuang, in the Kuiwei District, on the morning of April 15. They first handcuffed 70-year-old Mr. Wang and then proceeded to ransack his home. When his children heard what was going on, they went to his home and tried their best to keep the police from arresting Mr. Wang. In the end he was not arrested, but the police did take thousands of yuan in cash, along with Falun Dafa books, Shen Yun DVDs, cell phones, etc.
Ms. Yuan Qingxia, who works at the Hanting Chemical Fiber Factory in Weifang, was arrested at work on the morning of April 15, 2013. The factory managers cooperated with the police. Ms. Yuan's husband, Mr. Sun Tianpeng, was sentenced to eight years in prison because he practices Falun Gong. He is in Jinan Prison in Shandong Province. Ms. Yuan's son is in the twelfth grade and is about to take the college entrance examination. Her father-in-law, who is nearly 80, is sick and needs someone to take care of him. Since Ms. Yuan's arrest, her family has fallen on difficult times.
