Additional Persecution News from China – April 24, 2013 (15 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 72 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 21 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Fei Shuqin in Life-threatening Condition as the Result of Torture

Practitioner Ms. Fei Shuqin is being held at the Harbin Detention Center and she is in a life-threatening condition as a result of being tortured. She was rescued twice due to poor health and her family thus had 8,000 yuan extorted from them.

2. [Lhasa City, Tibet] Mr. Zhao Longzhi and His Wife Ms. Luo Na Sentenced to 14 Years in Prison

Mr. Zhao Longzhi and his wife Ms. Luo Na are former employees of electrical power agencies in Tibet. Police illegally arrested them in 2006, ransacked their home, and sentenced them to 14 years in prison. Mr. Zhao was detained at the Nidang Township Prison in Qushui County, while Ms. Luo was in the Beijiao Prison.

As a result of being tortured, several of Mr. Zhao's front teeth were knocked out, and some of his other teeth were also loosened. Ms. Luo was force-fed many times and brutally beaten. Her family visit was also denied.

3. [Zunyi City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Luo Renhui Arrested

Honghuagang District Domestic Security Division agents recently arrested Ms. Luo Renhui and ransacked her home.

4. [Leshan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Shuai Huilan Stays Away from Home to Avoid Persecution

Ms. Shuai Huilan, 56 years old, lives at Tang Village in Yangwan Township of Zhong District. Officials sentenced her to 18 months of forced labor detention in 2006 and sent her to the Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp in Zizhong County, where she was brutally tortured. Her term was extended by one month for refusing to give up her belief.

Guards tied her up with her legs crossed, hands cuffed behind her back, and her mouth taped shut. She was tortured this way for one entire day and prohibited from using the restroom. When her family picked her up in 2003, they had to carry her out since she could not walk.

Tang Village CCP head Tang Shangfu came to Ms. Shuai's home in April 2013 and told her she had to go to the police station for so-called study. He told Ms. Shuai that she would be arrested if she refused. She was thus forced to stay away from home.

5. [Chenzhou City, Hu'nan Province] Mr. Liao Zhijun Detained

When Mr. Liao Zhijun and his wife Ms. Zhang Yan went to work on the afternoon of April 18, agents from Suxian District Domestic Security Division and Suxian Police Station took them to the police station. Ms. Zhang returned home later that day, but Mr. Lao was sent to the Chenzhou Detention Center.

6. [Qian'an City, Hebei Province] Nine Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested

Police agent Pu Yonglai arrested 9 practitioners when they read Falun Gong books together on the afternoon of April 21. They included Ms. Liu Xiaoyuan, Mr. Gao Tiezhen, Ms. Liu Xiumin, Ms. He Yulian, Mr. Guo Zhengping, and Ms. Yang Jingyun. Ms. Yang Jingyun returned home on April 22, but the others are still detained at the Qianan Agricultural Law Enforcement Center.

7. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Qi Fang Arrested

Ms. Qi Fang lives in Xinhetou Village in the Xiashan District. Police arrested her at work on the evening of April 22 and ransacked her home the next morning.

8. [Chongqing] Mr. Fu Junguang Arrested

Mr. Fu Junguang, over 60 years old, is a retired worker from Chongqing No. 37 Middle School. Liu Guangjing, a 610 Office agent in Dadukou District, arrested him when he clarified the truth on the morning of April 22. Officials notified his wife, who was ill at home and needed attention, that he had been detained. It's said he may be in the Dadukou District Detention Center.

9. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Li Wenjun Imprisoned and Tortured

Ms. Li Wenjun, 64 years old, was a teacher in Harbin City. Officials arrested her in February 2012 and put her in prison in August. She went on a hunger strike to protest the mistreatment and is now very weak.

10. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Shenghua Arrested and His Whereabouts Unknown

Agents from Weicheng District Domestic Security Division and Beiguan Police Station arrested three practitioners on April 15. They are Mr. Wang Guangming, Mr. Tan Foli, and Mr. Wang Shenghua. Agents kept them in the basement of the Beiguan Police Station for interrogation. After guards forcibly took their blood samples, two agents took Mr. Wang Shenghua away. His whereabouts are still unknown.

11. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. He Shilan Arrested

Ms. He Shilan, 77 years old, lives in Zhongshan District. Zhongshan District police agents including Wang Zhongshan arrested her on April 23 and confiscated Falun Gong books from her home. She has now returned home.

12. [Wusheng County, Sichuan Province] Mr. Shao Changming Arrested and Sent to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Shao Changming is a teacher at the Taishan Elementary School. Officials arrested him at work on the afternoon of April 15 and sent him to a brainwashing center.

The following practitioners were also arrested recently and sent to brainwashing centers: Ms. Zhang Yan (Guang’an City), Ms. Liu Guihua (Linshui County), Ms. Deng Peilian (Guang’an District), and others.

13. [Shehong County, Sichuan Province] Mr. Xiao Kunquan and Mr. Ding Wenbin Arrested Again

Agents from the Zhongrenhe Town Police Station arrested Mr. Xiao Kunquan (79 years old) and Mr. Ding Wenbin (62 years old) when they clarified the truth on the morning of April 21. At the police station, agents cuffed Mr. Xiao’s hands, chained his feet, and forced him into an iron chair. They then tied his shoulders, chest, and stomach, making it difficult for him to breathe. Mr. Xiao was tortured this way for 12 hours and was released in the evening. Mr. Ding was sent to the county detention center.

14. [Tuquan County, Inner Mongolia] Mr. Liang Lixin Arrested, Whereabouts Unknown

Mr. Liang Lixin was arrested on the evening of April 22 for distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs; his whereabouts are unknown.

15. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Over 60 Practitioners Still Detained at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

As many as 110 or 120 practitioners were detained at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp between October and December 2012. About 60 or 70 practitioners are still detained there.
