(Minghui.org) I was born in the countryside of southern Liaoning Province and I am 51 years old. I had a bad temper when I was young and always liked to fight. I did not pay attention to anyone, and more than 20 teenagers followed me around in the village and did what I told them to. I would beat up anyone and was infamous for it. People were afraid of me. Whenever there was a fight during the night, I was there. My parents always worried about me. I acquired a lot of karma.
Admiring Dafa practitioners
In the beginning of the 1990s, my wife and I went to the city to do business. In the fall of 1997, Falun Gong came to my neighborhood. Many of our neighbors, some old and some young, practiced. I made fun of them and thought they had too much spare time. My wife often visited with Dafa practitioners, and in 1998, she began to practice.
In the beginning I did not like her practicing. I often was at odds with her and did not let her read the Fa at night. In time, I noticed that she became more tolerant and did not fight with me anymore. We often quarreled before she started practicing and sometimes we fought each other desperately. Witnessing her positive changes, I no longer interfered with her practice.
On July 20, 1999, the persecution of Falun Gong began, but my wife firmly kept up with the practice. Sometimes, other practitioners visited our home. From their manners, I saw that they were different from ordinary people. They were polite, humble, thought of others first, and were not bothered by fame or personal gain. They were truly gentlemanly and lady-like.
I loved to talk with them and always welcomed them to our home. Gradually, I understood many Dafa principles and often reminded my wife to do things according to the Fa. Sometimes, I also read Dafa books. Later, I began to do the exercises with her. Only after I studied the Fa did I understand how magnificent and wonderful Dafa is.
I still quarreled and fought on occasion, but I always had regrets afterwards.
Eliminating evil with adequate righteous thoughts
In 2011, the local court tried one of our local practitioners. His family hired a lawyer from Beijing to defend him. My wife went to the courthouse to watch the trial and was arrested. Later, several police officers escorted her to our home and tried to ransack it. I did not let them. I argued with them and told them that attending a trial was a citizens' right and that practicing Falun Gong was not wrong. But they still refused to leave. I got upset and took the teacups off the tea table and threw them at their feet. They left reluctantly.
Another time when I arrived home, I was surprised to see that several police officers were about to ransack my home. They saw my computer and made a move to take it away. I shouted, “Put it down!” Then they left. Later I knew that my wife had been reported to the police for clarifying the truth. She was arrested and was being detained at the police station. I immediately went there to seek her release. The police told me that she would be released in 10 days, but I disagreed. They wanted my wife and me to sign a document. We both refused. They insisted on taking my wife to the Domestic Security Division. I told them that if they detained her, I would go to Beijing to appeal. Then I left. Ten minutes after I got home, I got a phone call asking me to come and take my wife home. I told them I would not, that it was their responsibility to get her home safely. Not long after that, they sent my wife home.
During that time, I saw that the police also had a righteous side. None of them wanted to handle my wife's case. They complained to the police officer that arrested my wife about her arrest. I realized that when practitioners had adequate righteous thoughts, the police were afraid of us. But I knew that this was Master protecting us.
I am a new practitioner and have not studied the Fa in depth. But I know that Master is magnificent and practitioners are good people. The Chinese Communist Party's propaganda has been deceiving people. If my wife did not practice Falun Gong, I might have been a victim, too.
I will study the Fa more and cultivate myself well.
