(Minghui.org) On May 12, 2013, Falun Dafa practitioners in the Los Angeles area celebrated the 14th World Falun Dafa Day at Santa Monica Beach. Every year, thousands of tourists and local residents visit this well-known beach. Falun Dafa practitioners put on cultural performances such as waist drums, dancing, martial arts, songs, a Han style fashion show, and a demonstration of the Falun Gong exercises. The event drew a large crowd of spectators.

Vietnamese American Falun Dafa practitioner Tang Li sharing her experience
Vietnamese American Falun Dafa practitioner Tang Li spoke at the event. She shared how she had suffered from lung cancer many years ago. After the surgery and chemotherapy, she overcame the cancer, only to face new conditions such as fatigue, weakness and insomnia. Five years ago, she was bedridden and couldn't take care of herself. She was very depressed and had almost lost the desire to live. “Until one day, I found a book ' Zhuan Falun '. I read and read, and I felt more and more relieved. Gradually I fell asleep. When I woke up, I could stand up and walk. It was a miracle,” she said.
Ever since then, Tang Li has been practicing Falun Gong. Her health has never failed her again and she has since gotten rid of all her old medicine. Her family is very happy for her.
Resident of Santa Monica: Freedom of Belief Is Precious
Local resident Elani said she sees the World Falun Dafa Day activities at the Santa Monica Beach every year. She is very upset that such a peaceful practice is being brutally persecuted in China, and shocked to learn that the Chinese Communist Party harvests organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. “In this country, we take freedom for granted. Only when we see severe human rights abuses like this, do we realize how precious freedom is and how lucky we are,” she said.
Full of gratitude for the freedom and opportunity to practice Falun Gong, the practitioners gathered together for a group photo during the event and respectfully wished Master Li Hongzhi a happy birthday.
