Mr. Zeng Haiqi from Hongxia Town, Zhuzhou County, Hunan Province, 42 years old, was arrested because he talked to people about Falun Gong near Xianjing Township, Zhuzhou County in May 2010. He was sentenced to seven years in prison. His daughter was 15 years old and his parents were about 70 years old at the time. Mr. Zeng is being held at the Fifth Division of Jinshi Prison, Changde, Hunan Province.
In the prison, officers tortured Mr. Zeng in attempt to force him to renounce his faith. He was put in solitary confinement, strictly monitored, and brutally beaten. In April 2013, the Jinshi Prison called Mr. Zeng's home, saying he had liver ascites and was critically ill.
