Additional Persecution News from China – March 23, 2013 (12 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 7 provinces. In this report, 27 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 8 practitioners were illegally arrested .

1. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] More Information on the Imprisonment of 21 Practitioners

Ms. Jia Guirong was arrested in Qinhuangdao City, and is being held at the Heizuizi Women's Prison in Changchun City, Jilin Province.

Mr. Chen Qijiang is being held at the Jidong Prison in Tangshan City, Hebei Province.

Ms. Meng Zhu and Ms. Zhang Fengying from Funing County, and Ms. Ding Shurong from Changli County in Qinhuangdao are detained at the Shijiazhuang Women's Prison in Hebei.

Ms. Li Shanshan from Changli County, and Ms. Lu Suqin from Qinglong County are being held at the Hebei Women's Forced Labor Camp.

Mr. Song Zhiyu from the Haigang District in Qinhuangdao is being held at the Bao'anzhao Prison in Jalaid Banner, Hinggan League, in Inner Mongolia.

Mr. Zhang Hong and Mr. Liu Fusheng from the Haigang District in Qinhuangdao are being held at the Tumuji Forced Labor Camp in Inner Mongolia.

Mr. Wang Jianhua from the Beidaihe District is being held at the Tiebei Prison in Meihekou City, Jilin Province.

Mr. Zhang Yang from the Haigang District is being held at the Shijiazhuang Prison.

Mr. Zhang Jianping from the Haigang District is being held at the Zhejiang Province No. 2 Prison.

Mr. Wei Xiang from Shijiazhuang City is detained at the Zhejiang Province No. 4 Prison.

Mr. Liu Mi from Lulong County was sentenced to one year of forced labor.

Mr. Wei Xiyou from Lulong County, and Mr. Zhang Wei from Changli County are both missing.

Mr. Cui Aijun from Qinglong County is being held at the Qinhuangdao No.1 Detention Center.

Ms. Jiang Suqin from the Jungongli area in Qinhuangdao is being held at the Qinhuangdao Detention Center.

Mr. Zhu Zhiyong from Lulong County is being held at the Lulong County Detention Center.

Mr. Chang Cheng from the Haigang District and Mr. Lou Jindong from Qinglong County have been forced to leave their homes to avoid persecution

2. [Luotian County, Hubei Province] More Information on the Persecution of Ms. Lan Ming

Ms. Lan Ming was an employee of the Jian'an Company in Luotian County. She was arrested in 2001 and sentenced to five years in prison. She was detained at the Baofenglu Women's Prison in Wuhan City. Her husband divorced her after she was arrested, and the court made a rule that awarded all of their property to her husband. After she was released, she had to run a shop in Wuhan in order to earn an income.

On July, 2008, just a few days after Ms. Lan opened the shop, she was arrested again by officials from the Luotian County and Wuhan City 610 Office. She was taken back to Luotian County on August 19 and detained at the Luotian County No. 1 Detention Center. She was later sentenced to five years and held again at the Baofenglu Women's Prison in Wuhan. A prison guard hung her by handcuffs and tied her four limbs onto the death bed torture device for long periods of time, and deprived her right to use the toilet and sleep. Monitoring personnel beat her and swore at her. Because of the torture, she could no longer stand straight after being taken down from the hangup and death bed. However, the guards still forced her to do strenuous work for over 10 hours per day.

3. [Zhaozhou County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Xiao Zhigang Arrested

Mr. Xiao Zhigang from Zhaozhou County in Daqing City has been held in the Zhaozhou County Detention Center since he was arrested. His family asked to see him a few times, but their requests were denied.

4. [Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Ji Hongbo Arrested

Ms. Ji Hongbo from Mishan City was taken to the local Domestic Security Division by officer Yu Haiying on March 22, 2013. Officer Yu attempted to send her to the local detention center, however Ms. Ji was released after her younger brother signed the guarantee paper. Her Shen Yun DVDs were confiscated.

5. [Tongcheng County, Hubei Province] Mr. Lei Shengli Arrested, His Younger Sister Beaten after Asking For Her Brother's Release

Mr. Lei Shengli was arrested and is being detained. His younger sister Ms. Lei Shengping went to Li Chenggang's home, who is head of the Tongcheng Domestic Security Division, and asked him to release her brother, but she was kicked and punched by Li Chenggang.

6. [Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Yang Shuhua's Whereabouts Unknown

While Ms. Yang Shuhua from Shandong Province was visiting her daughter in Zhuhai City, she was arrested while putting up truth clarification posters. Her daughter went to the local police station and took her back home. However, they left home and lost contact with friends and family. Ms. Yang's whereabouts are unknown.

7. [Huangmei County, Hubei Province] Ms. Dai Meixia Put on Trial On the Morning of March 25, 2013

8. [Shiyan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Luo Qihua and Three Other Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Luo Qihua, Ms. Yan Xiuping, Ms. Chen Xuyun, and Ms. Cheng Guirong were arrested by officers from the Yun County Police Department on March 20, 2013. The location of their detention is unknown.

9. [Tianjin] Zhao Zhiyan Arrested

Ms. Zhao Zhiyan from the Beichen District in Tianjin City was arrested on the morning of March 21, 2013, and her home was ransacked. She was released that evening.

10. [Chenxi County, Hunan Province] Ms. Wang Yifang Arrested

Ms. Wang Yifang from Yanmen Village, Huangxikou Town, Chenxi County, Huaihua City was arrested by Houtang Town government officials on March 21, 2013 while distributing truth clarification materials.

11. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Trial for Mr. He Jianzhong

Mr. He Jianzhong's trial is scheduled for the morning of March 26, 2013 at Qilihe Court in Lanzhou City. His family has asked a lawyer to enter a plea of not guilty.

12. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Song Meilan Passed Away

Ms. Song Meilan, 69, who is retired from the Panjiang Chemical Factory in Guizhou Province has passed away. She was arrested by officials from the local 610 Office four times because she persisted in her belief in Falun Gong.

Ms. Song was arrested by officials from the Qingzhen City 610 Office in Guizhou City in September 2002, and was sentenced to one year of forced labor. She was held in Guizhou Province Women's Forced Labor Camp. She nearly died three months later, and her stomach was very swollen. The guards released her after extorted 8000 yuan from her family.

Ms. Song was arrested again on March 2003 by officials from the local 610 Office, and was detained for seven days. She was then taken to the Lannigou Brainwashing Center. Two months later she had a serious illness and her life was in danger. She was then released.

Ms. Song was arrested by officials from the Qingzhen City 610 Office again in April 2005, and was held for seven days.

She was arrested in August 2012 and detained for two days because she was distributing Shen Yun DVDs.

Due to the long-term persecution, Ms. Song had symptoms of stomach swelling and dizziness, and passed away on September 13, 2012.
