(Minghui.org) Before practicing Falun Gong, everyone in my local community considered me a mean person. Not only was I unwilling to pay for my own groceries, I sometimes demanded that vendors carry my groceries up to my fifth-floor apartment. If I was unhappy, I would trash their stalls and curse at them. They became frightened at the mere sight of me. Instead of discarding my household trash, like everyone else, I simply threw it out the window. No one dared to correct my behavior.
Changing My Ways
I felt very fortunate to obtain the Fa in September 1996. While reading Zhuan Falun for the first time, I recognized who Master was and couldn't stop crying. The more I read the Fa, the more I regretted my past actions.
Three days after reading the book, I had a fever, a cough, respiratory problems, and the symptoms of heart disease. I knew that Master was cleansing my body. From that day on, I became a kind person.
When I started paying for my groceries, the vendors became so scared that their legs started shaking. I said, “Don't panic. I cultivate in the Buddha school, now. My Master is giving me the opportunity to be a good person. I did many bad things to all of you. Please forgive me.”
Going to Beijing
When the persecution of Falun Gong started in July 1999, I wanted to go to Beijing to validate the Fa. Even though our family only had 800 yuan in savings, my husband said, “Take it all; a poor family, but a rich voyage!” And so I left for Beijing.
Deep in my heart, I knew that Falun Gong was innocent and that the Chinese Communist Party had been lying to the public. After arriving in Beijing, I was arrested, along with many other practitioners, and taken to a local gymnasium. Although it was sweltering hot inside, the police refused to give us any food or water for two days. I remember seeing Falun spinning in front of my eyes, as a cool breeze washed over me. I knew that Master was protecting me so that I didn't suffer from heat stroke.
When my husband arrived at the gymnasium, he tried to pick me up off the ground, but a police officer ordered him to stop. He told my husband, “She has to 'convert' before we will release her!” My husband said, “Convert? She used to be a mean person, but now she is kind. She used to hit me, but now she treats me very well. Why can't she practice Falun Gong? Do you want good people to be converted into bad people?”
The guards told me to sign a document slandering Dafa, but I refused. Instead, I told them about the wonders of Falun Gong. Seven days later, I was sent to a brainwashing center. My husband said, “When my wife was very mean, you looked the other way. But now that she's a kind person, you arrest her.”
When we found out that a group of police officers were planning to ransack our home, my husband told them, “I don't care who you received your orders from, don't touch my wife's belongings! If any one of you takes anything from our home, that person will have to deal with me, directly!”
Later, our 12-year-old daughter came to visit me at the brainwashing center. She told my husband, who had been patiently waiting in the lobby for my release, “Dad, there's nothing to be afraid of. The police came to our home and searched everywhere, but found nothing.”
Second Trip to Beijing
In September 2001, I again wanted to go to Beijing to safeguard Falun Gong's name. My husband said, “After practicing Dafa, you treat me and our daughter very well. Both of us will go with you--all for one and one for all!”
Train tickets were very hard to come by at that time, so I asked a fellow practitioner to purchase three tickets for me. When our family arrived at the train station, after successfully avoiding the police, we were told that our tickets had been given away to three other practitioners. Everyone thought that something had happened to us, since we didn't arrive on time.
I said to myself, “I must get to Beijing!” I glanced over and saw someone asking a train attendant for a refund. I quickly said, “Please sell that ticket to me!” Then, I told my husband and daughter, “Neither of you have tickets, so please go home. I will go alone!” My husband found my idea totally unacceptable. Just then, I saw another person approach the ticket counter, asking for a refund. I bought this person's two tickets, too. With a big sigh of relief, all three of us boarded the train to Beijing.
Two days later we arrived in Beijing and discovered that we had lost contact with the other nine practitioners who came along with us. While walking towards Tiananmen Square, we came upon a group of practitioners shouting, “Falun Dafa is good!” I also shouted, “Falun Dafa is good! It's a righteous Fa! Stop slandering my Master!” The police closed in on us and punched and kicked the other practitioners; then moments later, arrested them.
My daughter quickly advised me, “Mom, we should go home and continue to validate the Fa in our home town. We can't afford to get arrested, right here, without accomplishing anything!” And so we all went back to the hotel.
I wasn't happy about going home. I still wanted to go to Tiananmen Square to stand up for Dafa. My husband and daughter once again agreed to accompany me. All of a sudden I stopped walking and just stared straight ahead. My husband asked me what was wrong. I said, “Look! There's Master. He is standing right there! My husband pointed at the place that I was looking and said, “I only see a golden light. I don't see Master.” My daughter happily exclaimed, “I see him! I see him! It's Master!”
When we arrived home, our daughter had a high fever. She didn't practice Falun Gong, so I started to give her some medicine to help bring down her fever. She refused to take it, saying, “When I close my eyes, I can hear Dafa music.” On the second day, her fever was gone. I knew that Master was protecting her.
Clarifying the Truth in My Village
I told everyone in my village how Dafa had changed me into a kind, healthy person. When I read truth clarifying materials to people, they often asked me, “Where did you get those flyers?” I said, “I found them on the stairwell of that building, and also in those bicycle baskets over there. There are plenty of them. If you want to read them, just go grab one.” And so everyone in my community quickly realized the truth about Falun Gong. They said, “Please do us a favor. Don't go to Beijing anymore, OK? We worry about you!”
