(Minghui.org) I read an article on December 21, 2012 written by a practitioner from Hong Kong entitled “The Righteous Thoughts and Actions of Dafa Practitioners,” and I was shocked by the evil and cruel methods used by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to attack Teacher and Dafa in Hong Kong. This has been going on for almost six months. Something is not right.
I always thought that practitioners in Hong Kong were doing an excellent job. Many friends and relatives who visited Hong Kong told me about how well the practitioners there clarified the facts about Dafa and explained why people should withdraw from the CCP and its associated organizations. I truly admired what they have done. However, I began to wonder why such attacks are occurring and why they lasted so long. The following are what fellow practitioners and I discovered through our sharing.
The first time I read the article I was looking at how the practitioners in China were able to improve the truth-clarifying environment under the pressure of possible arrest or imprisonment, and wondering why the Hong Kong practitioners, who are under much less pressure, couldn't do the same? I thought there must be a problem in their cultivation. However, after I shared my thoughts with other practitioners I changed my mind. Teacher said in Teaching the Fa at the Conference in Singapore in 1998:
“I’ve often said that when two people have friction between each other, each one should examine him or herself. Not only should the two people with the friction examine themselves, but also the bystanders who happen to observe the incident should. That’s when you’ll really improve by leaps and bounds.”
I understood that knowing what was happening in Hong Kong meant that I should look inward to see what we should change instead of what the evil people should change. Practitioners in China have been clarifying the facts, getting people to withdraw from the CCP, hanging banners, etc. Without question they have done a lot of work. However, to what extent have they improved their xinxing? An improvement in the outer environment is dependent on the improvement of one's own xinxing. It is a natural response to one's xinxing status. It really doesn't matter how much work you do.
Why is it that some practitioners don't have to say much to get people to withdraw from the CCP? Why do persecutors become subdued in the presence of practitioners with strong righteous thoughts? Isn't this an issue of having a high xinxing level? When your xinxing level is high and you have a good grasp of the Fa, your ability to eliminate evil will be great. Can evil people do what they want in front of you? No, they are afraid of you; because it is not the people but the evil spirits behind them who are attempting to bring harm. On the other hand if our group xinxing level is not high enough, we can be doing a lot of work every day, but its effectiveness will be small. We can send righteous thoughts, but the impact will be limited. Teacher said in Zhuan Falun:
“Therefore, I just said that when you try to grab it, it will ignore you if you cannot reach it. If you touch it, it might injure your hand.”
The old forces may think: “These practitioners work like ordinary people. We need to give them something to improve their xinxing.” Hence, I think the Hong Kong practitioners do not need to deal with evil people, but to raise their xinxing while doing their work. They should not look to the evil people and question what the evil people do. Instead, they should focus on how to raise their xinxing level. We should not use Dafa activities to replace cultivation. All Dafa activities are for saving people. They do not replace cultivation, which involves raising one's xinxing.
The mighty virtue of a practitioner does not come from the amount of work one does. It comes from a raised xinxing level during the process of working. For example, if someone builds a lot of temples throughout the city, it does not mean that his xinxing level is high. He needs to cultivate xinxing in practice.
The interference by evil people in Hong Kong is a signal for Hong Kong practitioners to raise their xinxing. If their group xinxing can reach the standard required by Teacher, the evil will go away. I think as they raise their xinxing, the evil will lessen accordingly.
In fact, what happened in Hong Kong is very similar to what happened a few years back in Flushing, N.Y. Teacher said at the Fa Teaching at the 2009 Greater New York International Fa Conference:
“Our students who are in Flushing, the ones on the front lines, have a good starting point—to stand up to the evil. That is really good, and I do affirm that. But, do you perhaps rush into things a bit? Calmly think things over, and broaden your mind a little. If you can really regard everyone as a sentient being that we want to save, and then you try to save them, see if things change. It's definitely no coincidence that the evil emerged in Flushing and has made people do bad things. It must have come about to target our students' omissions. Don't blindly go battling against their human sides. Your goal is not to defeat them, but to save them. Do things with compassion and a calm mind, and then see how it goes.”
I think that every time interference occurs, it is for the purpose of helping us raise our xinxing and our mighty virtue. During the process we can see the status of our cultivation and how we work with fellow practitioners.
The problem in Hong Kong has lasted over half a year now. I did not see in the article by a fellow practitioner how the coordinator in Hong Kong organizes their group study to change their environment (maybe the article I read just did not address this point). If this kind of interference happened in China, we would have taken care of it a long time ago.
We are the main characters in the play. If we appear helpless in front of the evil people, that would be looking down on ourselves. When we lack understanding, we would then use human methods to deal with the problem. When we are assisting Teacher to rectify the Fa and save sentient being, how can we allow the evil to survive? Teacher does not recognize the old forces or the evil factors that are against Dafa, why should we allow the evil to stay around? Allowing evil is not a righteous thought.
When there are evil activities in Hong Kong, one implication is that the practitioners in China are not doing their jobs well enough. At least their righteous thoughts are not able to stop the evildoers from interfering with Dafa activities in Hong Kong. All Dafa practitioners are one body. I suggest that when practitioners in China send righteous thoughts, they add, “Completely negate the old forces and all the evil factors who use bad people to interfere with practitioners and impede their efforts to save sentient beings. Eliminate all evil spirits that make bad people do harm.”
While the practitioners in Hong Kong are raising their xinxing, they should expose the rogue actions of the CCP toward the citizens of Hong Kong. Evildoers do not want to be exposed. During the process of recognizing the evil activities, ordinary people are choosing to be saved. As a result, the bad deeds can lead to positive results. Practitioners in Hong Kong should also file lawsuits against the perpetrators so as to restrain them. In China we have human rights lawyers to defend Dafa practitioners.
Hong Kong has freedom of belief. Why should we let those bad communist people have their way? Our purpose is not to defeat these people, but rather to let ordinary people know the facts so that they will choose to be saved.
These are my understandings. Please point out anything that does not align with the Fa.
