Additional Persecution News from China – April 17, 2011 (17 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 39 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 7 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Hinggan League, Inner Mongolia] Practitioners Tortured in Tumuji Forced Labor Camp

At least 23 practitioners from Beijing and six practitioners from Inner Mongolia are currently detained in Tumuji Forced Labor Camp in Jalaid Qi. Guards abuse them every day.

The detained practitioners from Beijing are: Mr. Wang Rihua, Ms. Liu Yachun, Mr. Cao Jian’ou, Mr. Tang Guilin, Mr. Wang Shaohua, Ms. Lu Lin, Ms. Zhang Xiuli, Mr. Liu Haihong, Mr. Shen Yueqian, Mr. Guo Kang, Ms. Li Chunlian, Ms. Zhou Lina, Ms. Jing Zhangxiu, Ms. Wang Li, Ms. Wang Chunxia, Ms. Wang Suping, Ms. Lin Fenglian, Ms. Li Xiufen, Ms. Fu Ying, Ms. Huang Rujia, Ms. Cheng Fulan, Ms. Tan Zhen, and Mr. Yue Jun.

The detained practitioners from Inner Mongolia are: Ms. Liang Zuojuan, Ms. Zhang Hong, Ms. La Mei, Ms. Yang Yanhua, Ms. Liu Shulan, and Ms. Li Xiaohua.

2. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Zhao Lichun Watched and Harassed by Police Many Times

Officers from Shuangsheng Town Police Station arrested Ms. Zhao Lichun from Balinzuo Qi on January 30 and held her in Tianshan Detention Center. She was released and returned home at noon on February 9. Recently police have harassed her and her family many times and followed her.

3. [Ningxiang County, Hu’nan Province] Ms. Jiang Ruihua Severely Ill Due to Torture

Officers from the Baimaqiao Police Station arrested Ms. Jiang Ruihua on May 30, 2012, and took her to Baimalong Forced Labor Camp on June 13 for a term of one year. Three inmates kicked and beat her. Guards forced her to do slave labor from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day. Ms. Jiang was not allowed to eat dinner until the work was finished. As a result, she became emaciated and she developed very high blood pressure.

4. [Qidong City, Jiangsu Province] Mistreatment of Ms. Shi Jianfang

Ms. Shi Jianfang, in her 60s, was illegally sentenced to five years in prison in 2008 and sent t Nantong Women’s Prison. Inmates beat her, wouldn't let her use the restroom, made her do forced labor, forced her to take unknown drugs, and pressured her husband to divorce her.

5. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Xiumei Detained

Officers from the Xiahuayuan District Police Station arrested Ms. Zhang Xiumei on the morning of April 14 and held her in the Shisanli Detention Center.

6. [Changji, Xinjiang Autonomous Region] Ms. Gong Xiaojuan Arrested

Ms. Gong Xiaojuan, 51, teaches in the Mathematics Department of Changji Normal College. Sangong Town Police Station officers arrested her at the college on April 11.

7. [Zhoukou City, Henan Province] Mr. Xu Jiabing Detained

Police arrested Mr. Xu Jiabing from Xuwan Village in Xuwan Town, the Xindong District, for talking to people about Falun Gong and the persecution on April 3. When agents ransacked his home that afternoon, they confiscated a photo of Falun Gong's founder, Falun Gong books, and DVDs. Mr. Xu was transferred to the Zhoukou City Detention Center that night.

8. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Miao Suqing Facing Trial on April 17

9. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Pan Youfa Facing Trial

Chen Fuyang, an officer at Shenyang Domestic Security Division, and other agents arrested Mr. Pan Youfa on August 28, 2012, and held him in Xinmin Detention Center. He is to be tried on April 19.

10. [Shan County, Henan Province] Mr. Qin Fajun Arrested

Guanyintang Town Police Station officers arrested Mr. Qin Fajun for distributing truth-clarification materials.

11. [Xiangtan City, Hunan Province] Mr. Yang Shiyi Detained

When Mr. Yang Shiyi distributed informational materials about Falun Gong in Daolin Town, Ningxiang County, on January 14, Daolin Police Station agents arrested him and held him in the Ningxiang County Detention Center. Ningxiang County Domestic Security Division officials interrogated him several times. Under the orders of the Xiangtan 610 Office and the Ningxiang County 610 Office, Mr. Yang is still being held at the Ningxiang County Detention Center.

12. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Ms. Xu Changrong Detained

Ms. Xu Changrong returned to Baishan City on the afternoon of April 15 to take care of her hospitalized mother. When she spent paper bills bearing truth-clarification messages, Baishan Police Department agents arrested her and held her in the Changbai County Detention Center.

13. [Beijing] Mr. Tian Yucheng on Hunger Strike to Protest the Persecution

It was recently learned that Mr. Tian Yucheng, 44, from the Ningxia Autonomous Region, who is detained in the Beijing Forced Labor Camp, went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution.

Mr. Tian worked in the Haidian District, and Haidian District police arrested him in September 2012. They ransacked his home and confiscated two laptop computers. He was sentenced on October 11 to a term of two years and six months.

Because of practicing Falun Gong, Mr. Tian was fired in September 2001 and sentenced to three years of forced labor. He later went to Beijing and found a job.

14. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Du Qingxiu Sentenced to 6 Years of Imprisonment

Lingyuan City court officials sentenced Ms. Du Qingxiu, an English teacher at the Linggang Middle School, to 6 years of in prison on April 15.

Officials arrested Ms. Du at work on October 30, 2012, for sending cell phone texts to officers that clarified the facts about Falun Gong. She has been detained since then.

15. [Tianjin] Ms. Liu Huiqing’s Home Ransacked

The home of Ms. Liu Huiqing, in her 50s, was ransacked on the evening of April 15. She was not home at the time.

16. [Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province] Mistreatment of Ms. Zhang Cuijuan

When 48-year-old Ms. Zhang Cuijuan distributed Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs in Qixingpao Town on April 16, 2012, police arrested her and took her to the Baoqing Detention Center. She has been fired from her job and is facing trial.

17. [Huarong County, Hu’nan Province] Mr. Xie Chaoyan and Ms. Yan Congxi, Husband and Wife, Detained

Mr. Xie Chaoyan and Ms. Yan Congxi, his wife, are from Cangtai Village, Wanyu Town. Wanyu Police Station political head Li Siqing and agents from the county 610 Office and Domestic Security Division arrested the couple on September 21, 2011. Mr. Xie is being held in the Huarong County Detention Center and Ms. Yan in the Huarong Lockup.
