Masters Degree Recipient from Chinese Academy of Sciences Persecuted in Zhejiang Women's Prison
(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Feng Huimin graduated from the Chinese Academy of Sciences with a Masters degree. She was illegally arrested at work in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, on the night of June 22, 2009, and sentenced to seven years in prison. She is being held in the No. 5 Division of Zhejiang Women's Prison. Two inmates watch her around the clock.
In the prison, those who firmly cultivate Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are first confined alone to a reading room and tortured in a number of different ways. Ms. Feng was sent to the prison in December 2009. She was moved out of the reading room around October 2012.
Ms. Feng Huimin is about 31 years old. Her hometown is Lingyuan, Liaoning Province. After she started to practice Falun Dafa, she followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She was generous and considerate. Her performance in school was excellent, and everyone liked to associate with her.
When the college entrance exams neared, everyone was busy preparing. It was a busy time and the pressure was intense. Nevertheless, Ms. Feng often helped other students and always answered their questions patiently. A classmate in the regular program had a poor command of the English language. This person was very frustrated. Ms. Feng could see that and offered to help the person study English after school every day.
Ms. Feng went to Shenyang Agricultural University in 2000 and enrolled in the Masters program at the Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2004. She went to work at the Zhejiang Province Environmental Monitoring Center after she graduated in July 2007. Whether it was college work, her masters program, or work in general, Ms. Feng always conducted herself according to the standard of a cultivator. She was kindhearted, sincere, and responsible.
Ms. Feng was arrested for distributing Falun Gong informational materials in a residential area on the night of June 22, 2009. She was detained in the Hangzhou Detention Center between June and December 2009 and then sentenced to seven years in prison and sent to Zhejiang Women's Prison at the end of December 2009. She firmly upheld her righteous thoughts but was tortured with forced-feeding, being handcuffed and shackled for a long time, and other abuse.
According to a reliable source, Ms. Feng is being held in the No. 5 Division of Zhejiang Women's Prison. Since she was moved out of the reading room in October 2012, she has been constantly monitored by two inmates. According to the general rules of the prison, prisoners are allowed to purchase food, make phone calls to family once a month, have visits once a month, and can write letters twice a month. There are no restrictions on receiving letters. However, Ms. Feng's family is not allowed to visit her, there is no money in her prison account, and she has not purchased any food.
According to prison rules, prisoners have to purchase their own daily necessities out of their own funds set up in a prison savings account. Those who refuse to give up Falun Gong are watched constantly. Kindhearted prisoners sometimes give some of their own necessities to Falun Gong practitioners. If they are seen doing this, however, they are reported to the guards and punished.
