(Minghui.org) Guangzhou Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Yongguang was taken to the Shahe Street Police Station in the Tianhe District on August 8, 2012, where he was illegally detained for 15 days. He was then taken to the Tangang Brainwashing Center in Guangzhou by 610 Office staff. The staff has refused to release him, and denied his family visitation rights.

Mr. Liu is 50 years old. At around 8 a.m. on August 8, 2012, he was arrested while explaining the facts about Falun Gong to people on his way to work. He was then taken to the Shahe Street Police Station. His wife was not notified of his arrest and became concerned after she was unable to get in touch with him that afternoon. She asked several people nearby, and learned that Mr. Liu had been taken to the police station. The next day, Mr. Liu's family went to the police station and requested his release. At first, the officers denied any responsibility, but after the family requested to meet with the police station director, they received a call from Mr. Liu himself. Mr. Liu informed them that he had been taken to the Tianhe Detention Center, and had to pay to make this call.

Shahe Street Police Station staff detained Mr. Liu for 15 days. On the morning following the 15-day detention period (August 23), Mr. Liu's family went to pick him up. However, Mr. Liu had been unexpectedly taken by Guangzhou 610 Office staff to the Tangang Brainwashing Center in Guangzhou, where he was subjected to further persecution.

Mr. Liu graduated from the Foreign Language Institute of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and was a battalion level officer in the forces. He demonstrated outstanding competence, and held himself to Falun Dafa's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. He worked conscientiously and was modest in his actions. He did not fight for personal interests, had strict self-discipline and possessed no bad habits. He was much appreciated by others. He lived in harmony, showing filial piety to parents, respect for his elder brother and took good care of his younger brothers and sisters. Following his retirement from the army, Mr. Liu focused his efforts on work for a travel company, where he treated others with sincerity, kindness and tolerance. When others criticized him, whether it was right or wrong, he never argued or became angry. He was very popular in the company.

On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin's regime launched its bloody persecution of Falun Gong. Slanderous propaganda against Falun Dafa flooded every corner of the country, and all walks of life were under pressure from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities. Citizens were shocked by the persecution, which looked like a return of the Cultural Revolution. Many company leaders were coerced into conducting persecution measures on their subordinates under the deception of the CCP's lies. Mr. Liu, who had adhered to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, was subsequently subjected to multiple forms of injustice in his workplace, which infringed upon his legitimate rights. In 2003, his workplace leader took him to a brainwashing center near Sanshui Forced Labor Camp. He was forced to leave his job in 2005.

Mr. Liu is currently being held at the Tangang Brainwashing Center in Guangzhou. The 610 Office staff and police officers denied his family visitation rights, and even threatened his family with a house search.
