Additional Persecution News from China – March 4, 2013 (13 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 6 provinces. According to this report, 10 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 14 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Shantou City, Guangdong Province] The Persecution of Mr. Wang Qia’s Family

 

Agents from Shantou City 610 Office went to Mr. Wang Qia’s home in the Chenghai District on the afternoon of February 23, 2013. They confiscated his personal belongings, including a computer, a cell phone, and books. They arrested Mr. Wang, his wife, his 6-year-old daughter, and two visitors. His wife and daughter returned home late that night, but Mr. Wang is still detained in the Shantou Police Department.

Mr. Wang’s father, Mr. Wang Peiming, was arrested on June 26, 2000, and sentenced three years of imprisonment. While he was detained, he was beaten and sworn at. As a result of the severe mental and physical abuse, he died on September 19, 2005, at the age of 51.

Mr. Wang’s mother, Ms. Cai Yuechan, was arrested on June 26, 2000, and held in Baisha Detention Center for one month. Longhu District Court sentenced her to 18 months of imprisonment on December 4, 2010, in Tuopo Detention Center.

2. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Luo Shuzhen Detained

When Ms. Luo was distributing truth-clarification materials on the evening of February 27, Quanyong Police Station agents arrested her and took her to the Jinjiajie Detention Center on March 1.

3. [Beijing] Ms. Xu Yuelian Sentenced

Ms. Xu Yuelian, a Fengtai District practitioner in her 40s, was arrested in November 2012. She was recently sentenced to two and half years of imprisonment.

4. [Chengle County, Shandong Province] Mr. Meng Xianqiang Arrested

Agents from Honghe Town Police Station went to the home of Gutuan Village resident Mr. Meng Xianqiang on March 2. They arrested him and confiscated a TV set and a satellite dish.

5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Qi Lihua and Ms. Han Guirong Arrested

Ms. Qi Lihua and Ms. Han Guirong are from Qijia Town. When they spoke with people about Falun Gong and the persecution in a shopping market on the morning of March 3, police arrested them.

6. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Wei Yingxin Arrested

Police agents arrested Mr. Wei Yingxin, in his 70’s, on the morning of March 3 when he went to distribute truth-clarification materials.

7. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Niu Guifang and Ms. Qu Lihong Arrested

Shenbei District practitioner Ms. Niu Guifang was sentenced to three years of imprisonment and Ms. Qu Lihong was sentenced to three years that was suspended for five years. Ms. Qu returned home on March 3, but Ms. Niu is still in the Shenyang No.1 Detention Center.

8. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] The Persecution of Ms. Xue Yuxia and Others

Acheng District practitioner Ms. Xue Yuxia, 60; Mr. Zheng Guolin; and Mr. Xie Jinda went to Liugou Village, Yongyuan Town in the Daowai District to distribute Shen Yun DVDs on July 7, 2010. Wang Jun, Yongyuan Town Police Station chief, and other police agents arrested them.

Daowai District Court held a trial on October 19, 2010. Both Ms. Xue and Mr. Zheng were sentenced to three and a half years, and Mr. Xie was sentenced to three years. Due to the torture and abuse he was subjected to, Mr. Xie’s epilepsy recurred and he returned home on February 5, 2013. Mr. Zheng, 74, is still in Hulan Prison Hospital despite his deteriorating health. Ms. Xue is now in Ward No. 7 of the Heilongjiang Women’s Prison.

9. [Huai’an County, Hebei Province] Update on the Persecution of Ms. Lu Jinhua and Mr. Liang Fuqing

Police arrested Ms. Lu Jinhua (about 70 ) and Mr. Liang Fuqing (about 50 ) when they went to Xiamajuan Township in Shangyi County to distribute truth-clarification materials on February 5. Ms. Lu developed high blood pressure and she returned home the next day. Shangyi Domestic Security Division officials kept Mr. Liang in the Shangyi County Detention Center for 15 days. Mr. Liang returned home on March 2. Detention center officials extorted 1,050 yuan from his family.

10. [Cangzhou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Chen Shumin and Ms. Lu Yajie Arrested and Money Extorted from Them

Ms. Chen Shumin and Ms. Lu Yajie went to Daiyuan Village to talk about Falun Gong on February 23. Officers took them to the Yunhe District Police Department and confiscated their truth-clarification materials. Officials took a laptop computer, four cell phones, and Falun Gong books from Ms. Chen’s home. They extorted 5,000 yuan from each of them before allowing them to return home.

11. [Chaoan County, Guangdong Province] Mr. Li Tinghe’s Home Ransacked

Mr. Li Tinghe is from Yanbu Town. Police ransacked his home in the early morning hours of February 28, 2013, and confiscated his personal belongings including a computer and truth-clarification materials. Mr. Li was forced to stay away from home.

12. [Tianjin] Ms. Zhao Huanru and Mr. Gao Jingrong Detained

Ms. Zhao Huanru and Mr. Gao Jingrong from Dongjituo Town in Ninghe County went to Huangzhuang Town in the Baodi District to distribute truth-clarification materials on the evening of March 1. Police arrested them and took them to the Baoding Detention Center.

13. [Tianjin] Ms. Song Xiaoxia and Ms. Li Jingmin Illegally Sentenced to Prison Terms

Police arrested practitioners Ms. Song Xiaoxia and Ms. Li Jingmin at home in the Nankai District on June 21, 2012. Ms. Song was sentenced to four and half years of imprisonment, and is currently now in the Tianjin Women’s Prison. Ms. Li was sentenced to four years of imprisonment.
