Additional Persecution News from China – February 4, 2013 (11 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 5 provinces. In this report, 39 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 2 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Jimo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Xu Baozhen and Mr. Jiang Shouzhong Illegally Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison

Jimo Court officials sentenced Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Xu Baozhen and Mr. Jiang Shouzhong each to seven years in prison on December 17, 2012. Both of them have appealed. Their lawyer went to Qingdao Intermediate Court on February 1, 2013, to submit a Power of Attorney and lawyer's letter but Judge Ren Daoliang refused to accept these documents.

2. [Xing'an Meng, Inner Mongolia] Practitioners Detained at Tumuji Forced Labor Camp

List of detained Beijing practitioners: Mr. Wang Rihua, Ms. Liu Yachun, Mr. Cao Jianou, Mr. Tang Guilin, Mr. Wang Shaohua, Ms. Lu Lin, Ms. Zhang Xiuli, Mr. Liu Haihong, Mr. Shen Yueqian, Mr. Guo Kang, Ms. Li Chunlian, Ms. Zhou Lina, Ms. Jing Zhangxiu, Ms. Wang Li, Ms. Wang Chunxia, Ms. Wang Suping, Ms. Lin Fenglian, Ms. Li Xiufen, Ms. Fu Ying, Ms. Huang Rujia, Ms. Cheng Fulan, Ms. Tan Zhen, and Mr. Yue Jun, a total of 23 people.

List of detained Inner Mongolian practitioners: Ms. Liang Zuojuan, Ms. Zhang Hong, Ms. La Mei, Ms. Yang Yanhua, Ms. Liu Shulan, and Ms. Li Xiaohua, a total of six people.

3. [Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhou Jiafu Verbally Abused and Beaten by Police at Detention Center

Mr. Zhou Jiafu was illegally arrested on September 20, 2012 and is now imprisoned at Hegang City No. 1 Detention Center. The guards at the Detention Center verbally abused and beat him and as a form of torture, made him wear instruments that restricted his movements.

4. [Tianjin] Ms. Zhao Fengzhi Facing Trial

Ms. Zhao Fengzhi from Hexi District has been detained at Hexi Detention Center for nearly four months. It was learned that she will be tried at Hexi Court on February 5.

5. [Weifang, Shandong Province] Mr. Hao Wuzhong Sentenced to Nine Years in Prison

Mr. Hao Wuzhong was sentenced to nine years in prison and is now detained at Jinan No. 1 Prison in Shandong. Hao Wuzhong's wife went to visit him on January 19, but prison guards forbade her to see her husband.

6. [Harbin, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Hao Peijie Beaten at Qianjin Forced Labor Camp Until Her Body Covered in Bruises

Ms. Hao Peijie is 61 years old. On January 23, 2013, she was summoned to the head guard's room by guard Cong Zhixiu and head guard Wang Min at Qianjin Forced Labor Camp. They punched her, stepped on her head with their shoes and shocked her with an electric baton. Hao Peijie's body was covered with bruises as a result of the beatings.

Due to the injuries, her vision was impaired and she could not see clearly. She could not move and two guards took turns beating her for over three hours. Afterwards, they stripped off her clothes, poured cold water over her body and opened the window to freeze her.

7. [Hunan Province] Ms. Huang Duohong Detained at Xiangtan City Detention Center and Facing Trial

8. [Jiangan County, Sichuan Province] Married Couple Mr. Chen Xiaolin and Ms. Yuan Fuxian Detained

Mr. Chen Xiaolin, in his 60s, was arrested on November 22, 2011 and detained at Nanan Detention Center in Yibin City.

His wife, Ms. Yuan Fuxian, in her 60s, was arrested and taken to the police station in January 2013. Her cell phone and 100 yuan in cash were confiscated and she was then taken to Jiangan County Detention Center where she was held in custody for nearly 40 days. Her legs were shackled the entire time she was detained.

9. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Arrest and Extortion of Ms. Yin Xiuying

In mid March 2012, Shouguang Domestic Security Division and Jitai Police Station arrested Ms. Yin Xiuying and imprisoned her at Shouguang Brainwashing Center. She was bound to an iron chair for one day and night. Police extorted 20,000 cash from Ms. Yin's family before releasing her.

10. [Changsha, Hunan Province] Ms. Tang Peilian, in Her 70s, Arrested and Her House Ransacked

Ms. Tang Peilian, in her 70s, was arrested and taken to Chengnan Street Police Station on the morning of January 11, 2013, because she gave out DVDs containing software that enables one to break through the Internet firewall. Her house was searched. She returned home that afternoon.

11. [Chongqing] Yang Bin Forced to Leave Home and Wander Around to Avoid Being Persecuted

Mr. Yang Bin from Jiulongpo District was imprisoned for nine years. After his release, he was arrested again and detained at Suining City Brainwashing Center in Sichuan Province for 26 days. The police and CCP officials have been harassing him for an extended period of time. To avoid further persecution, he was forced to leave home.
