(Minghui.org) I am a Falun Dafa practitioner in Harbin City. I began practicing Falun Dafa in 1998. Before I cultivated in Dafa, my health was poor and I had three operations. I also had a bad temper, often fought with my husband and called people names. Because of my illnesses, I was unable to get pregnant and was looked down on by people. I could not do housework and my life was very painful. I felt there was no joy in my life.

1. My Whole Family Benefited When I Cultivated in Dafa

Miraculously, after I watched the video of Teacher Li’s lecture, I stopped calling people names within three days, and my health gradually improved. I truly experienced the wonder of being illness free. It felt like someone was pushing me from behind when I rode a bicycle. I was able to do housework, my temper became calm and I smiled often. I began to care about others, and no longer fought with my husband. I got along with my mother-in-law and my sisters-in-law. Observing my change, my husband also began to cultivate by the end of the year. In the meantime, we also guided my adopted daughter to cultivate. The three of us were immersed in the peace and happiness of Buddha's grace.

Before I learned Dafa, because I felt that my health was poor, I saved all my money to buy life insurance for my adopted daughter, so that she could be supported after I died. In fact, I felt that I would not live long, and I wanted to take advantage of the insurance company. After I learned Dafa, I realized that no ordinary people can insure others. Only by cultivating Falun Dafa can one obtain Teacher’s protection. Realizing this, I decided quickly to stop the insurance. I ended up losing over 2,000 yuan, which was a huge sum for me. But I had no regrets, because my whole family would benefit from Dafa. We concentrated on cultivating ourselves and returning to our original selves.

2. Steadfastly Believing in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and Being a Good Person, I Was Put in a Forced Labor Camp

The Jiang regime and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) together began the brutal persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. I refused to give up my cultivation and went twice to Beijing to appeal . As a result, I was detained several times and finally taken to the the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City to serve a one-year term. I was taken there at the end of 2000. I was put in solitary confinement within the first week of admission, and was not released until January 28, 2001. They forced me to watch the propaganda on TV on Chinese New Year’s Eve. Practitioners recited Lunyu together loudly and requested to be released, and were persecuted even more severely.

Before the June 25, 2001 Dragon Festival, the forced labor camp followed its orders from higher authorities and began to forcibly “transform” practitioners, as they had a quota to meet. The practitioners on the first floor were tortured first, which resulted in many of them being killed, and the incident shocked the world. A few days later, all practitioners held a memorial for the deceased practitioners. I was released half a month before my term was due and I had scabies all over my body when I got home.

3. My Husband Yu Huaicai Was Persecuted to Death

Mr. Yu Huaicai

In November 2006, the Domestic Security Division of the Hulan Police Department regarded me as a primary target and tried to arrest me, but I escaped successfully. On November 10, 2006, Hulan District Police Department deputy chief Jiang Jimin and Domestic Security Division captain Chen Zhaolin directed a group of officers to arrest my husband Mr. Yu Huaicai, at the grocery store where he was trying to sell bread, and detained him for ten days. They told my parents-in-law: “We did not truly want to arrest your son. Our purpose was to trade him for your daughter-in-law.” He was released on November 27, 2006.

When they arrested him, Chen Zhaolin and others seized my husband’s key and 1,000 yuan. When he went to ask for the money and the key after he was released, Chen Zhaolin and the instructor Lu Wenxue said: “How dare you come back to ask for the money? Don’t go home then.” They arrested him again, took him to the Hulan District Detention Center and gave him a sentence of one year of forced labor.

My husband went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention, and the detention center authorities took him to the Harbin Police Hospital. On December 29, the police took him to the Harbin Changlingzi Forced Labor Camp. However, the camp refused to take him because he could not pass the physical checkup, so he was returned to the Hulan District Detention Center. The warden Wang Cai and others tricked him into eating a meal by promising to let him go home. However, they took him to the forced labor camp again.

In early February, 2007, family members visited Mr. Yu at the labor camp. He told them that he was forced to do labor. During the Chinese New Year, the Changlingzi Forced Labor Camp escalated their persecution. Mr. Yu went on a hunger strike and his health badly deteriorated.

At the end of March 2007, the family members went to the hospital to visit Mr. Yu. Originally over 6’ and weighing over 200 pounds, he was like a skeleton, and weighed less than 100 pounds. He could not control his urine and bowel movements and could not take care of himself. He was hoarse and could not talk. His face was distorted and my daughter was scared to see him, crying loudly: “This is not my dad!” Not knowing the reason why, he banged his hands non-stop against the wall, breaking the back of his hands. Although his life was already in peril, they still had cuffs and shackles on him, only to take them off upon the strong protests by the family members. His brother had him wear a pair of gloves to protect his broken hands, but they stuck to his hands quickly. Mr. Yu was unable to express himself, but the forced labor camp still refused to release him. He died in a few days, at the age of 43.

After Mr. Yu died, the labor camp made up a few different illnesses as the cause of his death on the death certificate, and asked his brother Yu Huaifu to sign it. His brother refused, saying: “My brother wasn’t ill at all. It is you who killed him.” The officials threatened him: “It does not matter if you sign it or not. We will cremate him no matter what.” This way, Mr. Yu’s body was cremated, and his residency was eliminated with the involvement of the 610 Office. The funeral attendees were not allowed to bring any cell phones or cameras with them.

4. I Was Persecuted Again

After my husband was killed, I had to go into hiding. In November 2010, a fellow practitioner and I were reported by someone while we were telling people the facts about Falun Dafa in Xubu Township in Hulan District, and I was again arrested. They sentenced me to a forced labor camp for a year and a half. On November 28, 2010, I was taken to the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center and was rejected because of my poor health. They took me back to the Hulan District Detention Center. The next day, the detention center warden, Song Changhe, talked with the Wangjia Hospital president and asked them not to mention my illnesses, and I ended up being admitted to the Qianjin Forced Labor Camp.

In the camp, captain Wang Min and the deputy captain Liu Chang beat me and twisted my arm behind my back to force me to put my thumbprint on a document. Wang Min slapped me and injured my face when I struggled, while Liu Chang verbally abused me

The conditions in the camp were very bad. We were forced to do labor such as cutting grass, feeding pigs, chickens and ducks, cleaning pig manure, etc. All detained Falun Gong practitioners were persecuted to various degrees. In May 2011, the camp began a campaign to “transform” practitioners. The warden and the captains pledged to reach a 100% “transformation rate,” and tied it to their bonuses. They assigned three guards for each practitioner, and the guards’ salaries would be deducted if they could not “transform” him. Suddenly, the whole camp was immersed in an atmosphere of terror. Practitioner Ms. Yao requested to go to the restroom and was rejected repeatedly until finally she had to go in her pants. I was forced to squat for four to five days, all through one night and half the next. Two other practitioners were shocked with electric batons. Ms. Zheng was tied and hung up, shocked with electric batons, and forced to sit on the iron chair.

One day it rained when we were feeding the livestock. Three of us talked a little when we were taking shelter from the rain, and captain Wang Min heard us and was furious. She directed the team lead Zhang Qihui and the squad leads to punish me. I was ordered to clean the pig manure. However because I was very weak due to the persecution, I told them I could not do it. Zhang Aihui ordered Squad Lead Wang Fang to push me down in the pig pen and locked me inside. After I was kept there for a few days, they finally released me after I cleaned up the pigs’ waste.

Because the 610 Office inspected the forced labor camps annually, the camp started a new round of persecution on November 28, 2011. The camp ordered the guards to force the practitioners to smear Dafa, to show that the camp had done the “transformation” successfully. At 9:00 a.m., Captain Wang Xiaowei called me to the second floor and directed me to say things as they asked. I said I could not do that, because my Teacher taught me to follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and I could not lie. Wang tried every way to coax me and threatened me, but I would not budge. She grabbed my collar, pulled me to the third floor and cuffed me to the bed in a squatting position, with officer Wang Meiying watching me. A while later, Wang Xiaowei came back with an electric baton in her hand, dragged me up by my hair and began to shock me. I managed to get away from the electric baton, but she cuffed me and made me squat again. I did not know how long it was when she came back again, but I was unable to stand. She held me up toward the door, but before we reached it, I fell heavily on the floor and could not get up. It was past 3:00 p.m. by then, and I had been squatting for over six hours. When I was half awake, I heard someone say that my heartbeat was normal. It turned out to be Dr. Wang Meiqi talking.

At this time, my whole body had collapsed and my hands and feet were cold. It was not until past 9:00 p.m. when two guards took me back to my cell.

The forms of persecution that practitioners endured in the forced labor camp are too numerous to recount and they are still ongoing.

5. Conclusion

They killed my husband and caused me great trauma both physically and mentally. I did not have a job originally. With the persecution, they made my life even more miserable. With my being detained and put in forced labor camps many times and forced to stay away from home, my husband’s passing away, and my daughter being home alone only to be taken care of by my family, she was psychologically traumatized. She dropped out of school and gained many bad habits, which truly saddens me. My sister Du Xiuzheng and her family were also persecuted. She and her husband were sentenced to eight years in prison and her husband was killed in Daqing Prison. With both my sister’s and my husbands killed by the CCP, the blow to my parents was devastating and unbearable.

In spite of all that has happened, I do not regret at all cultivating in Dafa. I leaned how to be a good person. The persecution made me cherish more the opportunity to learn Dafa. China today has been rendered by the CCP’s lies and persecution to lose its moral standards and is on the verge of collapse. I hope that all people can understand the facts of Falun Gong, and see clearly the nature of the CCP. Only by following Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, can people recover their moral standards and have hope.
