Falun Gong Practitioners Secretly Tried in a Detention Center by Judicial Authorities in Mudanjiang City

(Minghui.org) Judicial authorities with the Aimin District Court of Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province, held a secret hearing on February 4, 2013 in the Mudanjiang Detention Center, for Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Han Xiufang, Mr. Gong Chengge, Ms. Liu Chunlan, Mr. Sun Fa, and others, without notifying their families.

When the families asked the officials, “Why didn't you notify us about the trial?” they were told, “We notify the families for all types of criminal cases except those that are related to Falun Gong.”

Among those participating in this unlawful trial were:

-Zhao Min, deputy secretary of Mudanjiang City Political and Legislative Affairs Committee and the head of the 610 Office;

-Li Gaoyang with the same committee; Yang Danpei, the political commissar of the Domestic Security Division;

-Li Zhe and Peng Fuming, heads of the Domestic Security Division;

-Liu Zhigang with the Huadian Police Department;

-Sun Qiang with the Aimin Police Department;

-Zuo Qiang with the Aimin District Procuratorate;

-Xianfeng Police Department officers;

-Aimin Court officials;

-and Zhang Aiguo, director of the detention center.

Before arresting the practitioners and ransacking their homes, Mudanjiang City police had been tracking, monitoring, and secretly photographing the practitioners. Several dozen practitioners whose names are on a blacklist were arrested on November 2, 2012, either at their homes or at work. The police used photos as evidence.

Some details of various individual cases are presented below, together with contact information for the responsible authorities. 

Monitored Cell Phone Led to Ms. Han Xiufang's Arrest

Ms. Han Xiufang is a retired accountant from the Mudanjiang City Electrical Company. She has been very healthy since she started practicing Falun Gong. She conducts herself according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in all circumstances, and strives to always be a good person.

The police currently monitor practitioners' cell phones with little restriction. They utilize information communication systems to monitor, control, and track the phones.

Ms. Han's cell phone was tracked, and she was followed by plainclothes officers. The officers followed and secretly photographed practitioners when they clarified the truth, handed out truth-clarification materials, had experience sharing meetings, communicated with each other, and exchanged books indoors and outdoors.

Ms. Han was arrested on November 2, 2012, and illegally detained.

Mr. Gong Chengge and Others Arrested for Giving Out Truth-clarification Calendars

Mr. Gong Chengge, along with his wife, Ms. Su Wenling, and other practitioners, went to Qingmei Village, Tielinghe Township, on December 14, 2012, a cold and windy day, to distribute truth-clarifying calendars. They wanted to give these precious gifts to the villagers, with the hope that each family would remain safe in such troubled times. Officers from the Tielinghe Township Security Brigade arrested and took them to the Mudanjiang No. 2 Detention Center.

Mr. Gong Chengge is a teacher at the Mudanjiang No. 2 Middle School. He has a bachelor's degree and is a professional math teacher. He has been persecuted many times by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for his belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and has been incarcerated and brutally tortured in Mudanjiang Forced Labor Camp, Jixi City Forced Labor Camp, and Suihua City Forced Labor Camp.

Every time his family visited him, he had to be carried out. At the Jixi City Forced Labor Camp, more than twenty guards plus political commissar Wang Hongwu, corp leader Zhu Lijun, assistant corp leader Wang Haifu, and squadron leader Qi Min used electric batons and ropes to torture and beat Falun Gong practitioners, including Mr. Gong, on April 24, 2003. Mr. Gong was covered with injuries as a result of the beatings.

While working at the Mudanjiang No. 2 Middle School on December 12, 2006, Mr. Gong was arrested by the police so that they could “have a talk” with him, and he was illegally detained. Officers from the Mudanjiang Domestic Security Division and the Yangming Police Department were responsible for his arrest. He was not released until his family went to the police department demanding his release and paid a fine.

Mr. Gong and other practitioners were arrested in April 2008 and tried on September 10 at the Muling City Court. Mr. Gong was sentenced to three and half years in prison. He was taken to the Mudanjiang Prison Training Team on March 25, 2009, and severely tortured for three months. He was later transferred to the No. 15 Ward and was forced to do hard labor. His last prison term had just ended not long prior to being tried again.

Ms. Liu Chunlan has been repeatedly arrested and persecuted in the past ten-plus years since the CCP began persecuting Falun Gong.

In June 2000, police broke into her home and arrested her. When she asked why they arrested her, the officers responded that they had to meet their quota set by the Communist Party officials. She was illegally detained for fifteen days.

Ms. Liu was reported and arrested in September 2004 in a rural area while she was delivering truth-clarification materials with other practitioners. After being detained for fifteen days, she was sentenced to three years of forced labor and taken to Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp in Qiqihar. After the camp officials refused to admit her due to her extremely high blood pressure and continuous vomiting, she was free to go home.

Ms. Liu was again arrested on November 2, 2012, and is still being detained. The police submitted her case to the Aimin District Procuratorate in an attempt to further persecute her.

Mr. Sun Fa has also been sentenced. He was arrested in April 2008, along with Mr. Gong and other practitioners. He was tried in the Muling City Court and sentenced to three and half years of prison time. He is now being tried again, not long after his previous prison term ended.
