(Minghui.org) Mr. Zhang Mingxia is a retired teacher. After he began practicing Falun Gong, he recovered from stroke-induced paralysis and could once more work. On July 20, 2011, Mr. Zhang was stopped by police while on his way home. The police tried to arrest Mr. Zhang and his wife, and left him so traumatized that he once again became paralyzed and cannot take care of himself.
Mr. Zhang is from Taibaozhuang, Chengguan Town, Mengyi County, Linyi City, Shangdong Province. Ten years ago, he suffered a stroke which left him paralyzed on his left side. He had been ill for years, and, even with treatment, was still bed-ridden and totally reliant on his wife for his care. When Zhang Mingxia began to read Zhuan Falun, he miraculously recovered. He got out of bed, could walk, took on the household chores, and later learned how to drive.
Mr. Zhang and his entire family are grateful to Master Li and Falun Gong for saving his life. He told all his friends and relatives, “Falun Dafa is good,” and, “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”
On July 20, 2011, while he was driving home with his wife, the police stopped his car and called for reinforcements. Many police vehicles surrounded their car and the police attempted to arrest him. At the beginning of the illegal arrest attempt, Mr. Zhang was very clear-headed. He knew that he had not committing any crime in practicing Falun Gong. He kept clarifying the truth to the policemen and told of the wonders of Dafa. But the police refused to listen and attempted to drag him out of his car. Mr. Zhang had never experienced such a vicious encounter before and he passed out in his car.
His wife began to cry and begged the police to let them go. She told them that her husband had a stroke which left him paralyzed and it was Falun Gong that saved him. Now she worried that he would become ill again because of this pressure. No matter how much she cried and begged, the police would not back off.
Later, Mr. Zhang became ill and close to death so his daughter and other villagers took him to the county hospital. The director of Gongyeyuan Police Station dragged his wife to the police station. He refused to let her go even though she was crying with worry for her husband. He did not release her until she signed a statement against her will that she would not practice Falun Gong. Meanwhile, Mr. Zhang's daughter cared for her father at the hospital.
Mr. Zhang was treated in the intensive care unit for a long time. Although he survived, he could no longer talk or move. The medical bill was over 200,000 yuan. He is now bed-ridden and completely relies on his wife and daughter for his care. The family has experienced a terrible loss.
