How Mr. Du Xiangzhong from Mengyin County, Shandong Province Was Arrested and Persecuted

(Minghui.org) Mr. Du Xiangzhong from Mengyin County, Shandong Province, and his wife Ms. Gong Fengying were spotted while they were distributing truth-clarification calendars in Zhonglou Township, Lanshan District, Rizhao City, by Zhonglou Township Police Station officers at around 2 p.m. on January 4, 2013. Later, while looking for a hotel in Zhaili Township, they were both arrested by officers from Zhonglou Township Police Station and Zhaili Township Police Station. Their copies of Zhuan Falun and truth-clarification materials were confiscated, and Mr. Du's personal van was impounded.

Mr. Du and his wife were first taken to the Zhaili Township Police Station. Officers from the Zhonglou Township Police Station told the officers from the Zhaili Township Police Station, “They were arrested here. You will also get credit if you interrogate them here.” It is truly sad that these police officers, who are blinded by lies, think that arresting good and honest people who believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is their opportunity to be recognized by their superiors.

Zhaili Township Police Station officers took Mr. Du and his wife to Zhonglou Township Police Station after illegally interrogating them. Ms. Gong escaped at 5 p.m. Mr. Du was interrogated by head of the Lanshan District Domestic Security Division Wei and Zhang from 9 p.m. until after midnight. Mr. Du clarified the truth about Falun Gong to them throughout the entire process. Zhang interrogated Mr. Du again the next morning.

Wei, Zhang, and a police officer from Zhonglou Township Police Station took Mr. Du to Donggang Hospital for a physical on the afternoon of January 5 and then took him to the Rizhao Detention Center.

At the detention center, Mr. Du refused to wear the prisoner's uniform and refused to report to the guards. He went on a hunger strike to protest the unlawful detention and was subjected to the “super shackle” torture and force-feeding with a nasal tube.

Mr. Du was released on the afternoon of January 19, 2013.

Mr. Du, 48, is from Gao Village, Mengyin Township, Mengyin County. Before practicing Falun Gong, he used to suffer from many illnesses, including stomach problems, heart disease, nervous headache, and insomnia. His health was extremely poor. As a result of the nervous headaches and insomnia, his memory declined rapidly. He couldn't draft purchase agreements, and this directly affected his performance at work. He was depressed and unhappy. When medication failed to help, Mr. Du gave qigong a try. He practiced many types of qigong, but his health never improved. He suffered from his illnesses for 20 years.

Luckily, Mr. Du started to practice Falun Gong in 1997. Practitioners of Falun Gong are taught to practice cultivation following the universal principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, to examine oneself whenever there is a conflict, and to always consider others first. He strictly followed the requirements that Teacher set forth in Zhuan Falun. His outlook on life changed completely and he became happier and more optimistic. He no longer brooded over any loss of vested interests. His words and deeds reflected the wonder of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and he was praised by the village officials and authorities at his workplace. He was publicly known as a good person. Mr. Du is the head of the household. Previously, although he was not abusive towards his family members, he was very overbearing. After he started practicing Falun Gong, he didn't lose his temper with his family members anymore. His wife had to do everything for him before, and now he is very considerate of her even for the smallest things.

While he strictly followed Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and strived to be a good person, Mr. Du's illnesses disappeared without him noticing it. His weight increased from 130 to 165 lbs. The magical healing effects of Dafa was reflected in him. Because he was healthy and energetic, had good moral character, and considered others first, he gained the trust and approval of many clients, the leaders of the company, and co-workers. His work performance was outstanding and he was recognized as an “Advanced Worker” every year after he started practicing Falun Dafa.

During the more than 10 years since the Chinese Communist Party launched the persecution of Falun Gong, Mr. Du has been illegally detained and brutally beaten repeatedly, put through forced labor twice, and had more than 30,000 yuan extorted from him.
