(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Fawang, 56, was a teacher at Neihuang County Teacher Training School in Henan Province. He was arrested in July 2008, and illegally sentenced to five years in prison for refusing to give up his belief in Falun Gong.
Mr. Wang was sent to the notorious Zhengzhou Prison, where criminal inmates are incited or enticed with rewards by prison guards into torturing Falun Gong practitioners. On June 16, 2010, a brutal beating by prison inmates sent Mr. Wang to the hospital for a ruptured intestine.
Tortured and Hospitalized
The morning of the incident, Yan Ming, head of the inmates, ordered everyone to go to the prison hall of the educational section to watch him present a program praising the Chinese Communist Party. After Mr. Wang sat down, he fell asleep. Inmate Zhang Yubao claimed that Mr. Wang was doing the Falun Dafa meditation exercises, so Li Shaosheng took him to cell #104.
Inmate Zhang Yubao kicked Mr. Wang and broke the stool he had been sitting on. Mr. Wang began to shout, “Falun Dafa is good!” Zhang Yubao and other inmates including Yan Ming, Li Shaosheng, Song Hongwei, and Zhuang Guangchao surrounded Mr. Wang. Yan Ming then grabbed Mr. Wang by the neck and pushed him to the ground, while the others fiercely kicked him.
Torture reenactment: violent beatings
Afterwards, Mr. Wang was in severe pain, he had difficulty urinating, needed help getting up or laying down, and he couldn't straighten his back. Inmate Yan Ming ridiculed him, saying, “Are you pretending to be in pain?”
Mr. Wang also couldn't eat, and could only drink water several times that day. When he needed to use the restroom, it took him more than 10 minutes to walk 32 feet.
Later that evening at about 8 pm., Mr. Wang vomited a large quantity of water and he had a strong urge to urinate, but was unable to. It also took him 20 minutes to walk to the restroom, doubled over in pain.
Mr. Wang was finally taken to the prison hospital, and was later transferred to Xinmi Chinese Medicine Hospital. He underwent surgery for a ruptured intestine there and needed eight stitches.
Before Mr. Wang's surgery, a doctor said some of his organs may have an ulceration and needed to be removed. Mr. Wang disagreed with the doctor and refused to sign the form to take out his organs. He only had surgery for the ruptured intestine.
After the surgery, Mr. Wang had five tubes inserted into his body—one catheter, two for internal fluids, one stomach tube and one oxygen tube. He was handcuffed to the bed and his ankles were shackled the entire time, even during the surgery.
Prison warden Zhang Zhiqiang threatened him, telling him not to reveal how he had been beaten.
Mr. Wang was hospitalized for only six days. He was forced to leave before he could eat on his own, and the stitches were still not removed.
Background
Mr. Wang began practicing Falun Gong in 1997. He was arrested by the Domestic Security Division of Neihuang County Police Department on the morning of July 10, 2008. The police who arrested him included the chief of the Domestic Security Division, Xie Guien, policeman Su Haiqiang, Wang Junan, and two others.
Mr. Wang protested the arrest by shouting, “Falun Dafa is good!” Xie Guien then forced him to his knees, and ordered two people to hold his arms and pressed him forward, while two others kicked his knees from behind. Mr. Wang continued to shout, “Falun Dafa is good!”
After kicking him more than a dozen times, Mr. Wang fell to the ground and couldn't get up even after 20 minutes. He was taken to a detention center and his left kneecap was swollen for over three months.
He was forced to do slave labor every day and given very little food at the detention center. He also was brutally beaten by inmate Sun Xianlin, an elementary school teacher charged with corruption, and who happened to be a former student of Mr. Wang's.
Zhengzhou Prison
Zhengzhou Prison is notorious in Henan Province for brutally mistreating Falun Gong practitioners. The wardens instigate criminal inmates to torture practitioners who refuse to give up their belief. The torture methods include verbal abuse, beatings, starvation, etc.
Practitioners were rotated to different areas in the prison, so the inmates could take turns torturing them. Practitioner Mr. Song Xu from Zhengzhou City was arrested in November 2002, and sentenced to 11 years in prison. He was brutally tortured while in Zhengzhou Prison. On October 13, 2008, prison warden Wang Shuwei took him to an underground cell for refusing to give up practicing Falun Dafa and for calling out, “Falun Dafa is good!” He was beaten there until his intestines were ruptured, and he was later taken to Xinmi Hospital. Due to the tight information blockade, it is unknown whether or not Mr. Song survived.
