(Minghui.org) Someone knocked on the door when I was getting ready for bed around 10 p.m. on April 23, 2000. The police and the village cadre were outside. I opened the door and asked, “What are you doing here so late?” One of them said, “Let's have a talk at the police station.” They took me there.
There was a vehicle at the station. Without a word, they pushed me into the vehicle and took me to a large house. Many practitioners were already inside the house.
In the evening, they tortured and beat each one of us in separate rooms, so that we wouldn't witness what was done to other practitioners. I was handcuffed to a metal bed frame in a small room.
Two big guys beat me with electric batons, demanding that I renounce my belief in Falun Gong. I refused, so they took turns beating me until I could no longer stand.
Two men dragged me into another, larger room. Because I couldn't sit, I had to lie on the cold concrete floor. Another practitioner there asked for large thick sheets of paper to cover the cold floor. The next day, my hands were swollen and other body parts were bruised from the beatings.
The perpetrators were afraid that others would see my injuries. Therefore, they locked me in a small room.
Keeping Steadfast Faith
The village cadre came in and asked me, “Do you still dare to practice after being beaten like this?” I replied: “We conduct ourselves according to the principles Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. We are good people who put others before ourselves. We don't fight back when punched or insulted. We are not corrupt, and we don't steal others' properties. We live a healthy lifestyle and have harmonious relationships with our families. Don't you think those are good things? Is there anything wrong with that?”
The cadre asked, “Do you really conduct yourselves according to the principles Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance?” I replied, “Yes, we do.”
He said, “Well, I tried it, too, but it is very hard, and I can't do it!” I told him: “You can start little by little, and eventually you'll be able to do it. This is how we did it. Look, they beat me, but I don't hate them.”
He seemed to have understood, nodded and left. That evening, he brought me a comforter. He pleaded with the township mayor to release me, but the mayor turned down his request.
Practicing Falun Gong Exercises Heals Injuries From Beatings
I went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. By the forth evening, I was dizzy and shivering, and my heart was beating fast.
The village cadre asked the mayor again for my release, but the mayor turned him down. The village cadre said to the mayor, “If something happens to her, you'll bear responsibility.” He added: “She is in bad shape. Let's take her home.”
Later in the evening, they found a car and put me inside. When we arrived at my house, they carried me into the house.
The next day, the village cadre asked the police to buy food for me. He knew that I had been persecuted many times and the authorities had extorted money from me. Consequently, I had to loan money from other people and held temporary jobs to make ends meet.
I was very weak, but said to him, “I'm a practitioner, and I cannot take things from others.” He replied, “It's fine if you don't want things from the police, but please take this from me.”
I said: “I cannot take your money. I still have food at home, and it should last me a while. Please don't worry about me; I'm all right now. I'll do the exercises and recover quickly. Then I'll be able to work again.” I added, “Perhaps I should take pictures of my injuries and save them as evidence of the persecution.”
He said, “I'll be your witness the day Falun Gong is exonerated.” He added, “Had I known they were going to beat you, I wouldn't have come with them to your house.”
He came to see me a few days later. When he saw me, he said, “Wow! You are well now!” I told him: “I didn't take any medication or have any injections. I just practiced the Falun Gong exercises, and I healed very quickly!”
Although I had suffered unbearable pain, I was very glad that through this experience he understood the truth about Falun Gong and chose to help practitioners. He had a conscience and chose a bright future for himself!
