Additional Persecution News from China – October 7, 2013 (10 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 8 provinces. In this report, 13 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 3 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Anshan, Liaoning Province] Female Practitioner Died As a Result of Persecution

A woman practitioner was recently arrested for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. She suffered a stroke and died the next day. The practitioner's husband works at Lingshan Coal Washing Factory.

2. [Suzhou, Jiangsu Province] Senior Practitioner Ms. Wei Jianhua Arrested

Ms. Wei Jianhua, 70, was arrested and searched by officers from Nanmen Police Station and 610 Office for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong on September 29, 2013. The police took her materials and her house key. Ms. Wei was interrogated and forced to give her fingerprints.

Six officers broke into Ms. Wei's house on the afternoon on September 30. They took two copies of hand-copied Dafa lectures and tore the posters off the wall. Her husband later brought her home.

3. [Songyang County, Zhejiang Province] Detention Center Officials Refuse to Allow Mr. Li Huafeng's Family to Visit Him

Mr. Li Huafeng from Wuxue City, Hubei Province, was arrested in Songyang County, Zhejiang Province, on August 29, 2013. His 80-year-old grandfather and other family members traveled from Hubei to Zhejiang to visit Mr. Li twice in September 2013. The guards did not let them in, threatened the family, and turned them out.

4. [Shenyang, Liaoning Province] Ms. Niu Huifang's Original Sentence Unchanged

Ms. Niu Huifang from Shenbei New District is currently detained in Shenyang City Detention Center. She was sentenced to imprisonment and appealed to the intermediate court. Ten days after the second trial, she received notification that her original sentence was unchanged.

5. [Shanghai] Seven Practitioners Sentenced to Prison Terms

Police from the Changning District arrested a group of practitioners distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs in September 2009. Mr. Sun Zhifeng was sentenced to seven and a half years of imprisonment; Ms. Sun Zhifang, seven years; Ms. Zhang Ying, seven years; Ms. Yang Aihua, three years; Ms. Yu Lanhua, three years; Ms. Wang Chuanlan, three years; and Ms. Su, three years. Eighty-year-old Mr. Sun Zhifeng was recently released. Seventy-year-old Ms. Sun Zhifang and Ms. Zhang Ying are still in prison.

6. [Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province] Ms. Chen Shuling Detained

Ms. Chen Shuling is being held at Shisanli Detention Center.

7. [Nongan County, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Mingyu Detained

Ms. Wang Mingyu often works outside of her hometown. She went home for a break on October 5, 2013, and was arrested by Kaian Town Police Station officers. She is being detained at Nongan Town.

8. [Dongying, Shandong Province] Mr. Ding Kuangsong Sent to a Brainwashing Center

Mr. Ding Kuangsong from Shengli Oil Field was arrested by police officer Dong Ning and taken to the Oil Field Detention Center and then to a brainwashing center on October 5, 2013.

9. [Wuhan, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhu Held in Brainwashing Center

Ms. Zhu was arrested in Shiyan on August 26, 2013, and detained in Wuyan Brainwashing Center, Shiyan City. Her family went to Shiyan to demand her release several times with no success.

The dry cleaning store owned by Ms. Zhu in Wuhan was searched on September 11. Since then, police have been monitoring the store. Ms. Li Jili, who lives nearby, was arrested on September 13 by officers from Shanghai Street Police Station and taken to Chenjiaji Brainwashing Center in the Jiangan District. It is said that Ms. Zhu was also transferred from Shiyan to Chenjiaji Brainwashing Center.

10. [Huaihua, Hunan Province] Ms. Peng Xiaomei Detained

Ms. Peng Xiaomei was arrested and taken to Chengdong Police Station on the evening on October 5, 2013, for putting up truth-clarification posters. She was taken to Huaihua Detention Center.
