(Minghui.org) Ever since the Chinese communist regime launched the persecution in 1999, tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been put on trial and sentenced to prison without proper legal procedures, in violation of the Chinese Constitution and existing Chinese laws. Below is one example.
The Hui County Court in Longnan City, Gansu Province, held an illegal trial for Mr. She Jindong, a Falun Gong practitioner, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on October 22, 2013. The location of the trial was changed to a county courtroom at the last minute. Only Mr. She’s lawyer, brother and nephew, but not his wife, were allowed to attend.
After his lawyer entered a not-guilty plea, the judge interrupted the defense and abruptly announced adjournment.
Background of the Case
On April 27, 2012, Domestic Security Division agents of the Hui County Police Department and Longnan City arrested five Falun Gong practitioners, including Mr. She and his wife Ms. Lu Caixia, Mr. Lu Xuelin and his wife Ms. Xie Fang, and Mr. Yang Xuqin. Ms. Lu and Ms. Xie were detained for 10 days. The others were detained for one month. The Gansu Province 610 Office issued the arrest orders.
On January 22, 2013, officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Hui County Police Department arrested Mr. She, Mr. Lu Xuelin, and Mr. Yang Xuqin again. Over 10 policemen, including Tian Li and led by Pang Xizhong, broke into Mr. Lu’s home and arrested him. Mr. Yang was also arrested by 10 policemen, with Wang Jianguo being in charge. Mr. She was arrested at his workplace.
On May 22, the three practitioners were released on bail.
In early August, Mr. She was sent to the provincial brainwashing center and detained for 5 days.
Shortly thereafter, police once again arrested Mr. She at his workplace. His case was submitted to court one week later.
On the morning of October 12, police also visited Mr. Yang’s workplace with the intention of arresting him. Mr. Yang was not there and was subsequently forced to leave home to avoid being arrested.
Mr. Lu also left home to avoid being arrested. The county police repeatedly harassed his wife, ordering her to persuade him to return home. The police also attempted to arrest his son for helping his defense lawyer with transportation.
