(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Baozhen, a former state-owned enterprise employee in Tonghua City, Jilin Province has been repeatedly harassed and had money extorted by her local court, which even tried to hold a “trial” at her home and forced her to sign a criminal verdict. Ms. Liu refused to comply with the persecution and clarified the facts to them.
Harassed Three Times in 10 Months
In the early morning on November 7, 2012, five people from the Dongchang District Court in Tonghua City broke into Ms. Liu’s home. They tried to hold a “court trial” at her home. Ms. Liu refused to answer any of their questions or comply with their demands.
The five people were Yang Wancheng, chief justice of the Dongchang District Criminal Division in Tonghua City, Jilin Province, Liu Baojun, the court clerk, Li Ruijun, clerk of the Dongchang District Procuratorate in Tonghua City; a young man from Political and Legal Affairs Committee (PLAC), and Na Wei, the lawyer assigned by the court.
They left and produced a criminal verdict on their own.
Around 9 a.m. on June 25, 2013, Yang and Liu came back to Ms. Liu’s home and demanded that she sign the verdict which sentenced her to three years and six months without due process. The verdict was dated November 8, 2012, the day after the five people had broken into Ms. Liu’s home and attempted to give her a “trial.”
Ms. Liu refused to sign the verdict and clarified the facts to them. Their attempt to illegally sentence her failed again.
But they didn’t give up. Two different people came back at about 10 a.m. on September 23, 2013.
A male and a female clerk from Longquan Police Station in Tonghua City visited and told Ms. Liu’s daughter that she could retrieve the 5,000-yuan fine they had paid in the past if she went with the verdict and receipt. This 5,000 yuan was extorted from Ms. Liu when she was arrested back on April 14, 2012, and her family was forced to pay this amount for medical parole.
These two people claimed that the parole was lenient. Ms. Liu responded firmly, “This is persecution. You are breaking the very laws that you are supposed to enforce. Falun Gong is good, because it teaches people to be good and kind.”
They then asked her to sign the case materials. Ms. Liu replied, “I won’t do it. You’d better not read it to me either, it’s not good for you. I won’t sign it, nor will I admit anything. By the way, are you a member of the Chinese Communist Party? Why not renounce your membership and be protected from its fate of being destroyed by heaven?”
The third attempt from the local court failed again.
How Ms. Liu Started Practicing Falun Gong
Ms. Liu is 57 years old. She was working at a state-owned enterprise in Tonghua County. The enterprise has closed down. In early 1996, she had a checkup and found that she had problems in her stomach, pancreas, spleen, heart, and liver.
An old Chinese medicine doctor told her that she was in the early stages of gastric cancer. She was still young, yet she had stomachaches all day long. She also had refractory neuropathic headaches, severe arthritis, and bronchitis. She had to take medicine all the time and could do nothing after running out of money.
One day in May 1996, a Falun Gong practitioner gave her the book Falun Gong . She propped herself up and read the book, little by little, each day. A few days later, she felt better and her complexion turned from gray to pink. There was even a smile on her face.
Tortures that Ms. Liu Endured Over the Years
Ms. Liu had been persecuted by the local police station, guards from Domestic Security Division, and especially from 610 Office, since July 1999, because she persisted in her belief in Falun Dafa.
She has been persecuted many times by the police, who ransacked her home, illegally arrested her, and carried out extortion, detention, and sentencing.
Her husband could not withstand the constant intimidation by the police. He suffered a heart attack and passed away in late 2005 when he was only 49 years old.
Ms. Liu was arrested at a fellow practitioner’s home by Tonghua City Domestic Security Division on the night of April 23, 2008. Because she refused to reveal her name, she was tortured by head Xing Guiquan, deputy head Tian Yuenan, and several other officers from Dongchang Police Station. Xing Guiquan forcefully slapped Ms. Liu in the face and beat her to the ground while pulling her hair. After Ms. Liu stood up, the officers kicked her down again.
Xing Guiquan also shocked her face with an electric baton and said, “I will shock you until you go blind!” He then shocked her arms, torso, knees, and ankles. Ms. Liu’s face and eyes were black and blue, and her ears were severely injured from the beatings. She now has tinnitus, and her hearing and eyesight are abnormal.
