“The intensity of our clarifying the truth should grow only greater and greater, so you mustn’t let up—you absolutely must not. If humankind really experienced something like what the prophecies have described, it would be too late for regret. You mustn’t let the sentient beings down, nor fail to honor the vow that you made before the dawn of history.” (“Fa Teaching Given in Manhattan”)
After the New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) became available via satellite transmission, we have been promoting it in our area since last December. Our area is a farming area. Not many people have computers and almost everyone watches television here. Installing satellite television fits into people's needs. Furthermore, NTDTV has a variety of programs and special reports. It reports the facts and is objective. Hence, it helps people recognize the lies spread by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and people will be willing to forsake the CCP.
1. If you are willing to save people, Teacher will arrange it
When we began offering NTDTV to people, only two practitioners knew how to install the satellite dishes and they had limited knowledge about satellite reception. Fortunately, those practitioners knowledgeable about satellite reception from other cities came to help. They arrived without prior notice, but we were able to locate the two local practitioners that were ready to learn the skills. One of them just came home from a long trip. Clearly, Teacher has made the arrangement for us.
After we learned the proper way to install the satellites, we passed on the skill to practitioners in surrounding areas.
When we installed satellites for people, we only charged at base price. There was no labor cost because the purpose was to save people. After half a year, not many people had a satellite dish installed. We were not able to achieve our goal. We looked inward for the cause and we found that we had a lot of fear which blocked us from saving people.
At this point practitioners from other cities came to share their experiences with us. They told us that installing satellite dishes was important because it can save entire families which might include some of the family's friends and relatives. They offered to give us seven thousand yuan for this project and encouraged us to put in more effort. We implemented a new approach. We offered a free trial period for people in the village that we know well. We thought to let them watch the shows first and decide later whether they wanted to keep it. This way people with a satellite dish can also help to spread the word. The agreement was that only after they decided to keep the dish, would we charge them.
At the beginning, due to our financial situation, I was concerned about the issue of funding. Practitioners living in the same village are farmers or workers with very little income. It seemed to me that offering free trial periods could not last very long. After reading what Teacher said at the “Fa Teaching at the 2008 New York Conference,”
“Master affirms what Dafa disciples have done. As long as you are doing things out of a wish to validate the Fa and save sentient beings, I will affirm all that you do. And when you go do those things, there will be my Law Bodies or gods there to amplify it and make what you do yet more magnificent and extraordinary, and they will assist you.”
We understood that as long as we focused on saving people, things would turn out well. We have twenty people who can install satellites. Within days over one hundred satellites were installed.
After a few months we found that there were enough people interested in keeping their reception setup and paid us so that there was no financial problem at all.
2. Installing satellite reception for NTDTV is also a process to remove attachments
Every so often we gather together to share our experiences regarding both the setup skill and related cultivation. We understand that setting up satellite dishes is for saving people, while doing the setup is part of our cultivation. We all send righteous thoughts four times a day and participate in group exercises and Fa study. We found out that the process of saving people would progress well, when our cultivation was solid.
Take “fear” as an example. Installing satellite dishes is done in the open. Everyone can see it. A person with “fear” won't be able to do it. Practitioners understand that installing the satellite dish is for saving people and it is a great act of compassion. Hence, there is nothing to fear. One practitioner carried a dish on his back and was on his way to install the dish for a family, when someone asked him, “Are you not afraid of being seen?” He answered, “I want people to know that I install satellite dishes in case they also want them installed.” The result was that several families had the dishes installed.
There was a female practitioner who wanted to install a satellite dish in her home. During the installation, she went out to purchase a battery. Her husband shouted at the installer and asked him to leave the house. The installer was calm and explained to her husband the facts about Falun Gong. Another practitioner was sending righteous thoughts to remove the evil spirit controlling the husband. Finally, the conflict was resolved. Now, her husband always watches the programs on NTDTV.
Actually, practitioner encounters all kinds of people when installing satellite dishes. Some like it and help with the installation; some say bad things or even threaten to report us to the police. When several practitioners work together on an installation, different opinions might surface causing different emotional reactions. When we were able to remember that we are practitioners, and that problems arise for the purpose of improving our character, things would turn out well. In particular, when we were able to focus on saving sentient beings, all conflicts would dissolve.
One installer reflected on his own experience and said, “When installation was going well, I usually got excited and then things went wrong. When I understood that I should remain calm and peaceful, usually no problems occurred.”
Another installer said, “Do not hold on to a rigid view especially negative ones such as criticizing others' work. That can cause problems during the installation. How you react to an incident is also important. There was a case after three of us had completed the hardware installation. One of us commented that the location of the dish was not good. The other practitioner agreed. They could not find NTDTV on the tuner. I did not give any thought to the matter and went ahead with the tuning. NTDTV showed up just fine. I think that when you do not have any preconceived notions, Teacher can help you.”
Now, more and more people have NTDTV installed and praise its programs. They are thankful that we installed the satellite dishes for them. We must be careful not to validate ourselves and remain focused on validating the Fa and saving sentient beings.
3. All practitioners should cooperate to support the installation process
Two practitioners in their seventies visited every village in their area. Within three days they got thirty families to agree to install NTDTV. They guided installers to every family. After completing all the installations, they said to the installers, “Here is six hundred yuan. We want you to use it to save sentient beings.” All practitioners there were moved by their actions. Practitioners who heard the story also want to put in more effort to save more sentient beings.
There was a male practitioner who was lazy and did not want to take part. After sharing the real meaning behind the installation and encouraging him to participate, he finally understood the importance of saving sentient beings and joined in. He learned how to install satellite dishes and drove his car to various locations working on this project.
A young practitioner bought a motor tricycle to carry the dishes and installation parts; a sixty-four-year-old practitioner was able to climb up walls to do the installation; a female practitioner over forty years old also participated; a technician who can make more than two hundred yuan a day was willing to spend time on dish installation, because he thought saving sentient beings was more important; another sixty-year-old practitioner has a job in the city, but he spends his weekends and nights helping to install satellite dishes as well. Basically, whoever needs a satellite dish installed, practitioners will do it regardless of the weather. Saving sentient beings is top priority.
Those responsible for spreading NTDTV also revisited those who had the dish installed to find out how they liked it, whether there were any problems to be resolved or if they would want to return it. This way we avoided wasting our resources and obtained feedback about NTDTV programs.
4. Teacher looks after those trying to save sentient beings
Practitioners participated in this installation program experienced the power of Dafa and Teacher's boundless compassion.
One practitioner's motorcycle had a leaky inner tire. It was close to the New Year and he had no time to get it fixed. Hence, he chose to pump it up every morning and came back in the evening every day. After about six days he had a chance to visit the mechanic. When they took out the tire, they found a big hole in it. He realized that it should not be possible to pump up the tire. He was grateful that Teacher allowed him to get by for so many days.
Another practitioner was riding his tricycle on his way to do the installation. All of a sudden the wheel of a truck in front of him came off and rolled down towards his tricycle at high speed. It would of been a serious accident should a collision occur. Fortunately, the wheel made a turn in front of his tricycle and fell by the roadside. This practitioner realized that Teacher protected him and he was very grateful.
A practitioner was going to contact some people about setting up appointments for installing NTDTV. The battery of his electric tricycle was down to a quarter of the energy it could hold. He did not pay any attention to it and went ahead with his schedule. After visiting several villages he returned home. When he looked at the battery meter, it showed there was a quarter still remaining! He traveled more than twenty miles. Clearly, Teacher was looking after him.
Two practitioners needed to speak to practitioners in a distant village about installing satellite dishes but did not have time to notify them before they took off. When they arrived at a practitioner's home, the practitioner had just returned from his farm. As they were turning onto the street where the next practitioner resided, they saw the practitioner was outside his home getting ready to leave on his bike. The third person they wanted to meet was the relative of a practitioner. At that time it was getting dark. Upon arriving at the door, that person had just returned home. This kind of coincidence is rare and to have all three in a row can only be a miracle. Clearly, as long as we are focused on saving sentient beings, Teacher can make the best arrangement for us.
5. People are grateful to Dafa for knowing the facts
An ordinary person who has been watching NTDTV for sometime excitedly told people the stories about Wang Lijun, Bo Xilai, Gu Kailai, the independence and human rights parades in Hong Kong, and live organ harvesting, etc. His actions have caused more than ten other villagers to install NTDTV in their homes. Now, many other villagers are looking for Dafa practitioners to install satellite dishes for them. The entire village is excited to get real news, especially to find out what is really going on with the CCP.
Another ordinary person said, “NTDTV is great! I only need to watch this one station to learn everything about the CCP. I won't watch TV stations associated with the CCP anymore, because I don't want to hear lies. Live organ harvesting is so cruel and inhuman, I believe the CCP is finished.”
An official at our village watched NTDTV at a friend's house. He was so impressed that he asked a Dafa practitioner to help him get NTDTV installed at his home.
The husband of a Dafa practitioner was against his wife practicing Falun Gong, because he was concerned about the persecution. He did not want to listen to the facts about Dafa. After having watched NTDTV, he has understood a lot of facts. Both he and his wife have since become Dafa practitioners and also go out to save sentient beings.
Another person who loves NTDTV said, “For many years I have not been getting the truth about what is happening. Now, I can find out what is really happening from NTDTV. This is truly great.” He said to a practitioner, “Here is one thousand yuan. I want you to use it to help more people.”
Another person, who is not a practitioner, said, “After I installed NTDTV, I had a dream in which many snakes, large and small, left my home. NTDTV is truly amazing!”
In the process of installing NTDTV for people, some CCP members also requested satellite dishes to be installed. One of them said to a practitioner, “It is finished now.” The practitioner asked, “What is finished now?” He replied, “The dark side of the CCP is exposed. Hence, the CCP is finished.”
We have installed NTDTV in many regions, but we know there are still areas where more installations are needed. We are now working on how to achieve a better coverage so that even more people can be saved.
In short, the more people who get the message from NTDTV, the better.
6. Conclusion
In the process of bringing NTDTV to people, we have encountered interference, difficulties and tests, but we have overcome them all. Quite a few people, who were against installing NTDTV, voluntarily came to us and said, “I want to have NTDTV. It does not matter how much it costs.” Things are moving along better and better. We need to train more practitioners to do the installation.
We noticed that those who got the facts from watching the TV programs were truly grateful and happy. We realize that we are the vehicles that Teacher uses to save sentient beings. However, we cannot become a useful vehicle unless we have the desire to save sentient beings.
We know our historical mission is to save sentient beings. We shall increase our workforce to do more in this direction and let the positive energy from NTDTV move into many thousands of households in Mainland China.
