Additional Persecution News from China – September 16, 2013 (12 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 7 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 12 practitioners were illegally arrested .

1. [Yunnan Province] Physician Mr. Hu Jinzhao Illegally Imprisoned Mr. Hu Jinzhao has been on a hunger strike to protest the persecution in Yunnan Province No.1 Prison. His hair turned white, and he is very weak.

Mr. Hu, 45, was an attending physician in the Yunnan Provincial Psychiatric Hospital. He has been persecuted many times since 1999. He suddenly went missing in late December 2011, and not until late January 2012 did his family learn that he had been arrested again and was in Yunnan Province No.1 Prison. His family has been forbidden from visiting him.

2. [Boxing County, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Yuzhen Faces Trial Gaoqing County 610 Office agents arrested Ms. Zhang Yuzhen on August 18, 2013, when she talked to people about Falun Gong and the persecution. Her home was ransacked. Ms. Zhang is now in the Gaoqing County Detention Center.

The authorities attempted to extort 70,000 yuan from Ms. Zhang's family for her release, but her family refused to comply. The local police then submitted Ms. Zhang's case to the Gaoqing Procuratorate and claimed that they would sentence her to prison. She may be tried on September 16.

3. [Zhongning County, Ningxia Autonomous Region] Mr. Ding Fadong and Mr. You Haijun Arrested Mr. Ding Fadong and Mr. You Haijun were arrested at home on the afternoon of September 15, 2013. Both of them are being held in the Zhongning County Police Department.

4. [Tianjin] Mr. Chai Baohua Detained Mr. Chai Baohua was arrested on the afternoon of September 14, 2013, in Shuanggang Town, the Jinnan District. His car was confiscated. He is being held in the Beichen Detention Center, and his car was found in the Yixingfu Police Station in the Beichen District.

5. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zhao Xiurong Detained

Ms. Zhao Xiurong, in her 40s, was arrested in the Futian District on the evening of September 12, 2013. She was taken to the Meilin Police Station. She is currently in the Meilin Detention Center.

6. [Changchun, Jilin Province] Mr. Gu Changyu Arrested Mr. Gu Changyu from Fanrong Village was arrested at home on the afternoon of September 13, 2013. Officers from the Domestic Security Division made the arrest.

7. [Weinan, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Jia Ye Physically Abused in Prison September 8 was visiting day in Weinan Prison. Mr. Jia Ye's family saw Mr. Jia, who has been imprisoned for 5 years. He was pale and fragile. Through a short conversation, Mr. Jia's family learned that criminal inmates have been monitoring Mr. Jia for a long time. The only time he's allowed out of his cell is when his family comes to visit him every month. Mr. Jia suffers from chronic stomach bleeding.

8. [Chongqing] Three Practitioners Arrested; Home Ransacked Ms. Zhou Yourong, Mr. Zhou Shijie, and Ms. Xie Qin from the Jiangbei District were arrested early in the morning on September 15, 2013, when they hung informational banners on a highway. They were taken to the Shimahe Police Station. The police ransacked the homes of Ms. Zhou Yourong and Mr. Zhou Shijie around 4:00 a.m. and confiscated MP4 players and informational materials.

9. [Datong, Shanxi Province] 610 Office Agents Harass Two Practitioners Tian Town 610 Office head and others deceived Ms. Liang He into opening her door on August 19, 2013. They confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun, a picture of Master Li Hongzhi, and other personal belongings.

These same people proceeded to the home of Ms. Bai Fenglan, in her 70s, on the same day. They attempted to confiscate her picture of Master Li and other items, but Ms. Bai's family stopped them. The head of the 610 Office took photos of Ms. Bai and her daughter Ms. Duan Xiuyun, forced them to be fingerprinted, and took down their telephone numbers.

10. [Guiyang, Guizhou Province] Four Practitioners Arrested Mr. Li Gangping, Mr. Tian Deyu, Mr. Tang Jianhua, and a practitioner surnamed Chen were arrested in Zhangbu Township, Pingtang County.

11. [Ningxiang County, Hunan Province] Ms. Hu Rong Sent to Brainwashing Center Ms. Hu Rong, an accountant in the county bank, was taken to the Laodaohe Brainwashing Center on September 1, 2013. Local 610 Office agents plotted this arrest with supervisors at Ms. Hu's workplace.

12. [Ningxiang County, Hunan Province] Ms. Peng Liang Sent to Brainwashing Center; Two Non-Practitioners Detained More than a dozen officers from the Ningxiang County 610 Office and State Security Division ransacked the home of Ms. Peng Liang, who is in her 40s, on the morning of September 2, 2013. They confiscated her computer, printer, Falun Gong books, and other personal belongings. Ms. Peng and her guests Ms. Nie Haihua and Ms. Fang Xiaozhong were arrested.

Ms. Peng's sister and mother arrived at Ms. Peng's home while the police were searching it. They arrested Ms. Peng's sister.

Ms. Peng's sister has been released, but Ms. Peng is being held in the Laodaohe Brainwashing Center in Changsha City. Ms. Nie and Ms. Fang are in the Ningxiang County Detention Center.
