(Minghui.org) Practitioner A has been taking care of her father's salary account, since her father lives on a farm and it is not convenient for him to come in town to get it every month. Close to the Chinese New Year's day in 2011, practitioner A wanted to take out the money for her father while she was out of town on a business trip. So she asked her son to take the money out for her.
It was on January 18, 2011 when she called her son to withdraw money from the account. After a while, her son called back and said to her, “The amount in the account shows over 50,000 yuan.” She thought that was strange because her own calculation showed that it should be just over 10,000 yuan. She said to her son, “You are right it should not be that much. Are you sure you did not read it wrong? Anyway, you can tell the true amount after you make the withdrawal.”
After another break, the son called back again and said, “There is no mistake. I have over 50,000 with me.” She was taken by surprise. Since she had never handled that much money in the past and was not sure what might have gone wrong, she told her son, “For now put the money into my bank account. I am sure this extra 40,000 is not our money. We need to find out who it belongs to and return it.” Her son agreed.
After she hung up the phone, she did not know how to proceed to find out who was the owner of this money. The following idea went through her head: “It is close to the busy time of the year. People who lost the money must be very worried. I need to move quickly.” She called her son again and asked, “Did you asked the staff members in the savings bank about this?” The son replied, “The bank has many workers and all of them were very busy at the time, and I did not have a chance to ask.”
She then realized that her father's monthly income came from the social security administration. She called the director of the local social security branch in her city and the director told her that he would look into the matter. A short while later he called her back and said emotionally, “You are absolutely right! The contractor in charge of distributing the money we received from the government made a mistake.” He then expressed his gratitude to her for letting him know about the money and told her how thankful he was.
She had to return home to handle the transactions because the money was in her bank account. She rushed back not realizing that it was Sunday. She called the social security director upon arriving at home. She was told to meet at the Farmers Bank on Monday, because no one worked on Sunday.
After breakfast on Monday she went to the Farmers Bank and returned 40,900 yuan to the social security administration. The contractor who made the mistake in the transaction wanted to thank her by offering her 1,000 yuan, but she declined. She asked for Practitioner A's address and said that she would come to see her around noon the next day.
The next day the contractor came with her four-year-old son and said to Practitioner A, “You can't imagine how much trouble you have saved me.” Practitioner A smiled and replied, “ I am a Falun Gong practitioner and believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Teacher told us to care for other people ahead of ourselves. This is something a practitioner should do. I hope you remember that Falun Gong teaches people to be good. If you have joined the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), I encourage you to withdraw from it and all its associated organizations.” The contractor happily agreed and asked her son to recite with her, “Falun Dafa is good.”
