Chapter 3: Standing Together with Practitioners
In an acquisitive society, Falun Gong appears as a flow of pure water, and people see the way home. Lies are brittle. Practitioners have clarified the truth for 14 years, repeatedly exposing the lies told by the evil Chinese Communist Party (CCP) about Falun Gong. More and more people have awakened and support Falun Gong to put an end to the persecution.
1. Practitioner's Husband: “More People Should Stand Up for Falun Dafa!”
“I am the husband of a Falun Gong practitioner. I would like to share the experiences of being with my wife during these years, in order to help others learn more about Falun Gong.
“I was born into a family who believed in Buddhism, so I was a theist. My father is a Buddhist. He strived to do good and accumulate merits his whole life. My mother, who is in her nineties, chanted scriptures every day. These years she has accepted my advice and recited “Falun Dafa is good” instead. I am in my fifties and have experienced many vicissitudes of life. But I still believe that good and evil will always be rewarded and punished, respectively.
“In 1996, a practitioner gave me the book Zhuan Falun. Master Li said in the book,
'...as a practitioner, you shouldn’t hit back when attacked, or talk back when insulted ...' (Zhuan Falun)
"As a guard, I felt that it was hard for me to be such a good person, and decided I would start practicing Falun Gong after I retired. Happily, my wife read the book and started practicing Falun Gong.
"My wife, born in 1951, suffered from many illnesses. In 1969, she went and worked in the countryside as an educated urban youth, and stayed there for three years. She often complained about her unfair fate. After reading the book, she found answers to the questions she had wondered about for many years, and she learned how to become a true, good person. She knew that Falun Dafa was what she had been looking for her whole life.
“She has since persistently practiced, and she became healthier and healthier. Moreover, she worked harder than before, and her boss became more satisfied with her work.
“As a man, I loved my wife and revered her belief. I tried to protect her during these tough years. If every Chinese with a sense of justice can stand up and say, 'Stop persecuting Falun Gong! Falun Gong is teaching people how to become good', the persecution tragedy, which is similar to the Cultural Revolution, would end.
“I am so lucky to have a practitioner as my wife. From her deeds, I can expect a bright future. Here I would like to say again, 'Do not persecute Falun Dafa! Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!'”
2. Family Members Benefit from Falun Dafa
One female practitioner from the countryside has persisted in clarifying the truth since the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong. Her family strongly supports her.
“What's worth mentioning is that my family has always supported me in clarifying the truth about Falun Dafa, especially my husband. He always goes with me to deliver truth-clarification materials at night. We always bring 50 to 60 copies, and we don't return home until we are done. When I put up a poster, he turns on the flashlight and helps me to adjust it correctly. If I plan to visit a village far away, he gives me a ride on the motorized tricycle.
"I always said, 'Our motorized tricycle is a gift from Master Li.' My family has benefited a lot from Falun Dafa. One time the motorized tricycle turned over when my son was driving it down a hill. But he was only skinned a little. The tricycle would not start afterwards. I then sent righteous thoughts and said to it, 'You are a gift from Master Li. You should resume working well.' Then my son tried starting it again, and it worked!
"Once all the pigs, except for those raised by a practitioner, suffered foot-and-mouth disease. Thus the villagers witnessed a miracle created by Falun Dafa.
"Within several years, we built our big house. My husband, daughter, and son knew the reasons we were able to do so."
3. Choosing Based on One's Conscience and Justice
A college teacher of computer science worked more conscientiously and diligently after he started practicing Falun Dafa, and was well received by his colleagues, boss, and students. Since the persecution campaign started by the CCP affects every corner of society, everyone has to make their choice...
"I have to risk the most severe ordeal in my life if I continue to persist in practicing Falun Dafa. On one side, some concerned authorities force 're-education' on me, on another side, my friends persuade me to give up my belief. There is the old adage, 'Those who suit their actions to the time are wise.' Some think that a smart man should be shrewd in order to protect his profits, but I do not agree with this thinking. If everyone is so selfish, it would be impossible for us to get along with each other. In that case, we would not have a truly happy life.
"I always follow the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to be a good person, work hard, and have a good relationship with others. My boss, colleagues, and friends know this is the case from my behavior.
"I decided to persist in practicing Falun Dafa because it benefits all people and nations and doesn't cause any harm. I did not make my decision to practice based on any personal gain or loss. Everyone would understand my decision if he is sober-minded and rational.
"To my regret, my school was not judged as a 'civilized unit', because I practice Falun Dafa. I love my school and I did not want my school to lose any honor. But my belief did not harm anyone. In contrast, I became a better person due to my belief. My school did not do anything to me. They understand my situation and silently support me. I think they will benefit a lot from Falun Dafa.
"Everything does not always go smoothly in our lives. If a man makes a correct decision, he will make his life more glorious. I believe that more and more people will choose to side with Falun Dafa."
4. Defending the Legal Right to Practice Falun Dafa
On January 21, 2013, Mr. Ye Baofu, his wife Yang Mingqing, and his daughter Ye Mao, were illegally tried in the Kunming City Intermediate Court, which is controlled by the CCP.
Mr. Ye's wife said in her own defense: “Today, I once again stand here as a defendant, charged with 'utilizing cult organizations to undermine law enforcement.' My practice of Falun Gong is legal, and Falun Gong is not a cult. It teaches Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, is beneficial to the nation, and does not do any harm. Possession of Falun Gong books and materials is also completely legal.
"Every single person—every living being—in the world is the object of Dafa's saving grace, including those who have persecuted Falun Gong. I have no resentment or hatred toward those who participate in the persecution, I just hope you can come to understand the truth. The less you persecute Falun Gong, the more hope there will be for you to have a bright future."
Mr. Ye told the court how he had brought great, positive changes to the thinking of a death row inmate by discussing the principles of Falun Gong with him in the Wuhua Detention Center.
The inmate had lost all hope, and was intent on creating conflicts with everyone in the center, including the guards. He had even thought about killing the guards, thinking that no one could control him.
Upon hearing this, Mr. Ye asked to be assigned to the same cell, and eventually got through to him by sharing his personal experiences of practicing Falun Gong. The inmate eventually wrote a letter to Mr. Ye, saying that if he had heard about Falun Gong earlier, he would not have committed the crimes that put him on death row (and ultimately had him executed). He asked Mr. Ye to show his letter to everyone in the judicial system. The presiding court judge accepted this letter as evidence of the righteousness of Falun Gong.
Mr. Ye's story reflects the fact that Falun Gong can benefit anyone, and that there is hope for anyone who can treasure the opportunity of a lifetime, and remember that Falun Gong is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.
Through testimony such as this, everyone in the courtroom witnessed and was touched by the compassion shown by Falun Gong practitioners.
The trial took place on January 21, 2013 and lasted 5 ½ hours, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., and again from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. According to the bailiff, this was the longest Falun Gong-related hearing in the court's history.
Three attorneys presented a strong defense for Mr. Ye, his wife, and their daughter. After the six-hour-trial, these lawyers did not feel tired, and enthusiastically said, “It is our fortune to defend Falun Gong practitioners!”
The stories above are but only a few drops in the ocean. Today people with all kinds of desires, solely seeking profit, have already forgotten their original goal in coming to this world.
I hope all kind people will learn the truth and benefit from Falun Dafa.
